About
Woodstock Farm Sanctuary envisions a peaceful world rooted in respect and justice for all living beings. We rescue farmed animals and give them care and sanctuary, connect animals with people to advance veganism, and advocate for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements. We welcome visitors to come and meet animals who are most commonly exploited, abused, and killed in animal agriculture. Our animal residents are given lifelong sanctuary and are treated with respect as individuals. By giving farmed animals the chance to live their lives with dignity and by sharing their stories, we advocate for veganism and aim to reduce suffering for all.

Such a well organized farmed animal sanctuary! On-site lodging is beautiful. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their animals and mission.

A special, moving place
Dec 2019 • Couples
Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is a spectacular place to tour, meet the rescued animals, and learn about animal agriculture. We visited as part of our stay at the Gray Barn (the beautiful on-site bed and breakfast). Woodstock is such a special place, and it’s only minutes from Mohonk Mountain House. It’s great for couples and families alike.

Very Educational and Inspiring
Sep 2019
We have been thinking of visiting the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary for some time and finally got a chance to do so. The Sanctuary is located outside of Woodstock and features a number of rescued farm animals, many of whom were slated for the slaughterhouse. The guides are knowledgable and bring their stories to life. There are many opportunities to feed and pet the animals inside the enclosures (a guide must accompany you). If you are not a vegan, please know that this is the ultimate message: animals as food, even ethically sourced meat and eggs, are anything but according to the many sad stories you will hear. If you are a receptive audience and looking to understand more, a visit here is the key. If children are part of the tour, guides are sensitive to the information they share, making a visit here am all-ages experience. There is also a nice giftshop that supports their work.

Amazing experience
May 2019 • Couples
This property is spacious, spread out, peaceful, and beautiful. We decided to take the hour-long tour before venturing out on our own. Lauren was our tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable. As we visited each animal, she provided a history of how they ended up at the sanctuary. She also gave a sobering history of how the agriculture industry treats (or rather mistreats) each species. We were able to feed a cow and chickens, as well as belly rub the pigs. This was an amazing interactive experience and lesson. We will absolutely return.

Very Nice sanctuary!!!

Very Nice sanctuary that goes above and beyond for the animals they have. Just remember that this is not a roadside petting zoo, if you take the tour you will learn about the cruelty that we subject our four legged partners on the planet with.

Guaranteed to change your life

While visiting a daughter in NY, we were blessed to visit the Sanctuary. The tours are very well run, with visits to the various animals, their background and some real truths about the dairy, egg and meat industries.
You come away profoundly moved. There was so much I had no idea about, for example, how badly egg laying chickens are treated.
It’s very inspirational and makes you feel you can make a difference in the world.

Lovely sanctuary for rescued farm animals
Jul 2018 • Family
Sanctuary farm is a lovely place that takes rescued industry raised farm animals such as chickens, turkeys, pigs, goats, etc. Your entry fee is a donation. It is very educational and they teach you the hard truth about the live food industry.

You are allowed to interact with some of the animals which is nice especially if you bring little kids. The tour is well done my only issue is if you have school age children 5 thru 12, it might be a little too much information, which will probably encourage further conversation later on. This could be especially difficult for animal loving children who haven't connected the dots yet. So skip it if you or your kids are not ready handle the hard truth or to become vegetarians or vegans. Otherwise, it's a nice place with very nice people who most of who are volunteering to lovingly take care of these animals.

Nice day out, also very close the New Paltz a wonderful walking town.

Wonderful place to see happy rescued farm animals

I have been a member of the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary for many years. I love going there and hanging out with the animals. The folks who have dedicated themselves to helping farm animals are great. You will have a nice time there and your children will love it.

Excellent experience with staff and farm. Educational!
Feb 2018 • Friends
We had arranged to be at this farm sanctuary during the off-season. My friend writes vegan poems and wanted to video the animals while reading the poetry. We arrived around noon and were met by one of the staff who showed us around and told many of the animal's stories and some history of the sanctuary as we walked the farm. I knew nothing about this farm beforehand and was expecting to be let in and wander at will. This personal attention made so much difference. After this introduction we were left to video with instructions and warnings about specific animals and areas. The staff here really care and know the individual animals.

These are animals who escaped slaughter and mistreatment. There are educational boards about current meat industry practices as well as physical examples of the types of living quarters that are currently being used in the industry. These animals are in large enclosures with indoor and outdoor access. I was impressed!

Because we went when the sanctuary was technically closed, we did not have a standard tour, nor did we see the gift shop or any other programs that might be available. Regardless, I think it would be a wonderful place for a picnic by the river or in the field.
