About
Spookers is a live entertainment experience in which the victims (you!) move through theatrically themed Haunted Houses, and outdoor environments decorated by sets, props and live scare-actors. As you walk through the attractions you will come across unexpected visual, tactile, and sound effects intended to scare the yell out of you. Are you tired of the mundane? Need some excitement in your life? Spine chilling, blood spilling, thrilling, terrifying horror will grab hold of you from start to finish. From the blood curdling butcher to the so-sad babies and other tortured souls with their voices seeping through the floorboards; just three steps into Spookers Haunted House could have you begging for mercy and sprinting for the door! Disturbia takes 'three dimensional' to another level. Step into the world of blacklight loving freaks! Tight spaces, loud noises and the fast pace will test your limits. Psychedelic clowns take "clowning around" to their irrational happy place. Don't hide, because they'll find you! Giggling, cackling, sending chills through your body. Fear takes over, you can't move. Bright lights, flickering all around you…. walls closing in on you. Disturbia is thoroughly disturbing.

We loved Spookers. The ticket gets you in to 3 experiences- The Haunted House, Disturbia and Cornevil (The Corn Maze). We arrived at around 7.30 and during this experience we had a variety of characters come out to give the meet n greet in Spookers style which is only a snapshot of the experience.
Please ensure you read the FAQs - regarding clothing, shoes, weather ID etc and I also advise you put repellant on before you do Cornevil.

We had zero expectation before we got there and were just open to whatever it had to offer. We weren't disappointed and all I can say is prepare for the jump fright, scream (yours and theirs).

Our favourite was Cornevil - imagine walking into a corn maze hearing screams, chainsaws etc and in the dark. Please note this is the experience that takes on average 45-50mins but we also know that it has taken some people much longer. Be careful with footing- shine the torch on the ground to avoid tripping etc.

The characters found out my son and his best friends name and occasionally started screaming both their names that added to all of the fun.

Thank you to the Spookers team for an awesome experience. We look forward to coming back to do the Woods.

We went on Friday 13th and the atmosphere through the night was impeccable. The characters were scary and their outfits were stellar. Would highly recommend!!

We had a slight mishap where one of the forest actresses was physically pushing us back after making us loop around multiple times. I understand they were trying to slow people down since the haunted house line was backed up. However it was hard to tell that she was genuinely trying to stall us when she was letting people behind us go through with no stalling. Perhaps there could be a way for the actors to give people a signal that helps communicate this better?

Don’t let that deter you though - it was a busy night and it takes a lot to do what these scarers do! The rest of the actors were EXCELLENT. The noises and props were exceptional in the haunted house. And the free photo with your entry is a nice way to capture the memory.

Awesome experience. My daughter decided to go for her 14th birthday outing. I took four girls around the same age. Saturday night is R13 night, so it was tamed down a bit for them. Still cool and scary as, the actors put a lot into this, the make up and outfits are amazing, and their characters so edgy. The girls got spooked right at the start, maybe not expecting it to be a bit of a shock. Julia the owner and MD really came to my assistance, we had driven down from Gulf Harbour which is a fair way, and the girls were not sure they wanted to go on. Julia encouraged them and took two hours out of her night to come round with us and make sure they were OK. That's some personal service! Brilliant, and by the end of it they did have a good night and a positive experience, so thank you! They want to go again one day and not say stop either!

Incredibly disappointing experience at SPOOKERS.

We arrived at 7:30 PM, only to find ourselves waiting in line for TWO HOURS without even getting inside the venue! Last entry at advertised as 9:00 PM. The event was clearly oversold, and the lack of effective crowd management was evident. By 9:30 PM, we were still only halfway through the queue, which showed a clear failure to accommodate attendees properly, we ended up walking away without experiencing anything except a dismal wait in a queue. DON'T waste your money, absolute rip off!

Kids went ..older teenagers. Bought tickets for all 4 attractions..due to 1 hr +lines for each only got through 1. Returned very disappointed. Fed back on messenger to Spookers and received a very rude dismissive reply. DO NOT recommend. Cutomer service is appalling.

To the spookers Amazing Maze Giant Easter Egg Hunt Management..
My large family of 10 had the worse ever experience as being a first time attending this event. We had prepaid $100 and bought 4 x $8 buckets that your staff was selling when first entering the event WHICH we had planned to have a fun filled family day with our 8 Children at this so called AMAZING MAZE. And I tell you now we all were looking so forward to this event all week my 3yr old kept reminding me every day leading up to this event. Just so he and his older siblings could hunt for easter eggs and every child loves hunting for choc eggs.(I know as I usually do a little neighbourhood one now and again ) Which I must say it wasn't very amazing after all.. As advertised it said 50,000 eggs were to be found it did not advertise nothing what so ever about that their were a limit to finding these easter eggs which was placed in the corn field maze. We had only arrived and about the first 45 minutes my kids had found about 20 mashmellow eggs. 👍 As walking around we were approached by 1 staff member whom tried to tell my 8 children that they had to put some eggs back for other people to find aswel. (Like seriously) 50,000 eggs in that cornfield and you wanted my 8 kids easter eggs?.
That was only 20 eggs they found between themselves and you wanted them to put some back.😴
I was very upset and didn't like the way your staff had spoken to my family and I as we felt we as paying customers were not appreciated. And yes paying over $100 for this occasion of course I was going to be very upset (Who wouldn't be ). 😡
I then had said I paid over $100 to attend this event with my family and it wasn't to come and leave with only 1 easter egg per kid. Your staff then replied and." said that really we had only paid for the maize and that the easter eggs were a bonus added." I then replied with a " get out of here!"
And that I did not spend over $100 to come and look at some old corn and mud I could had done that for free by taking my kids to the farm up the road to look at for free. NOT having to pay $100+.."And that you have got to be kidding me!!! 😡
you can not tell me these 1500 people you say you have coming through in each day for the next 5 days is coming to look at old rotten corn ???? 😡😡 THAT has nothing else in it but OLD CORN AND MUD. The choc gold eggs are the only thing that stands out and gives it life!!.
These paying customers like myself had come to bring their children to look for chocolate easter eggs. Well I sure as hell know that is what my partner and I had thought we were paying for. 😣😣😣
The way your staff had approached my family and I was not professional at all and the manager had nothing else to say but SORRY and that she was only going to refund $40 😵. I replied with a "NO" I want my full refund as I no longer want your eggs or your buckets. Which I was very firm about not leaving that place until I got my full refund. Which I may add did not even get as I hadn't fully checked how much was refunded until I got in my vehicle as I was $14 short of.
By then I was to upset already as I didn't bother going all the way back to the maze to speak with Julia the directing Manager.
I feel the handling of this situation was appalling and my family is very disguisted by it. AZ never ever would I bring my family back or recommend this event to anyone. YOUR ADVERTISEMENT THAT YOUR ORGANISASTION HAS DISPLAYED does not mention anything about a limit and to top it off the man in the beginning of the maize before entering had said that we would be having fun finding 20+ easter eggs. 😴 Which again turned out to be false. This egg hunt was not amazing and no where near it!!.
We had prepared our families lunch the night before we had got our family up very early just to be their before the crowd packed in as we didn't want to be waiting in a very long line.
I personally felt that your organisation and staff members could had done way better in handling this situation and you guys really need to rethink about re hiring better and more experienced staff members.
I left that place with tears as I was so angry and could not do anything but cry. And im sure Julia the manager had seen my eyes water up when waiting for the refund to be handed over to me.
I felt the staff had no remorse even though I never disrespected them in any way all I had done was point out the obvious that the situation was BULCRAP that was the only disrespectful thing said. As you could verify that Julia.. And the eggs should had been hidden before your paying customers arrived. As children are looking everywhere to find easter eggs not corn and corn leaves. And then when children do finally find some eggs like my children they get told to put some back for other families. (SERIOUSLY ) The amount of eggs we found were only a limit of 2 eggs each basically.
You Spookers AMAZING MAZE ORGANISERS have some serious over looking to do with maybe starting off from your advertisement you have advertised. May need to rewrite what is written so you is not leading on the wrong impression to the wider community.
Thank you,
Regards
A very Upset Mummy and Paying Customer.

Absolutely awful. The staff were nutters (way over the top), the whole concept just reeks of a kids birthday circa 1980. Well over done and the food wasn't very good and ours was cold and looked like it had been reheated in the microwave. This has the potential to be great, but it just wasn't.

Thank you for your feedback. While we know that a themed attraction such as Spookers is not going to appeal to everyone, we would really like to put your bad experience right. The haunted attractions and how the actors interact within them change each night depending on which actors are working and which set they have been placed in. It would be very helpful for us to know which night you attended and which particular sets or actors you had a bad experience with so that we can identify the problem. In regards to your meal, did you eat in the restaurant or the cafe? Did you have a buffet banquet or eat a la carte? Did you speak to a staff member or the maitre 'd regarding your cold meal. Once again it would be very helpful if you can give us more information so that we can both make this right with you, and also ensure that no one else has an unsatisfactory experience. Kind regards.

We came here on Halloween night with really high expectations since we had just arrived from the Uk and had heard great things. The set up was really well done and for the most part we enjoyed it and had a good few scares. We did the forest attraction last though and were greeted by the most unfriendly actors. I dont know if they were just tired from all the scaring but if you are going to hire people for such a pricey attraction I think they should be on their game at all times because its a one off experience for most goers, and with our situation the rude staff just ruined the night. One lady working as a hill billy at the cabin complained of our torches, although they werent in her face , it did shine on her initially. This should be expected by spookers especially when someones initial reflex when in a dark forest is to shine on movement. She was just standing there not doing much of anything to be honest. She complained with profanity about the torch, which was awkward and embarassing for us as we were with older family and theres nothing more upsetting than someone talking rudely to a parent or grandparent with no respect. I think this lady needs to reassess if she wants to work there or not. Same goes to the guy chained up by both hands who jumped out at us and then complained in the second after screaming at us about torches. Maybe find a way to do this attraction without torches so that your employees arent so unhappy and therefore ruining customer experiences? Other than this the rest of it was good. Praise to the green goblin in the line to haunted house!

I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your night. Unfortunately Friday 13th is always a very busy night, and we try to manage it the best way we can so that guests have a great experience. There was a coffin counter at the front of the main ticket building where all customers we able to buy a queue jump pass for $10 if they didn't have time to wait, or didn't want to wait. After the ticket counters closed this staff member made 1 pass of the queues in front of the attractions to ask if anyone wanted to buy the queue jump pass. This was because guests wouldn't have known how long the queues were until they got there. Everyone was given the same opportunity, and it is so tricky for us to balance giving people the chance to spend less time queuing on a busy night, with other people thinking we are ripping them off. I am sorry that you believe we got that balance wrong. If you would like to email us at info@spookers.co.nz I am happy to send you complimentary tickets to enjoy Spookers on a less busy night. Kind regards, Beth
