You can take a nice walk along the dunes on the boardwalk to get to the lighthouse. Once there, you enter the gift shop to purchase tickets to walk up to the top. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids. There are plenty...More

Absolutely beautiful lighthouse with breathtaking views of the ocean and island. A nice walk to the lighthouse with plenty of natural beauty all around as you wall the wooden pathway to the site.

Very impressed about fire island the lighthouse parking as it’s February was free, but they ask $8 to take a guided tour of the lighthouse which I didn’t think was worth that.

I would say yes, I saw a few people doing exactly as you described and they did not seem to have any issues.

Yes filed 5 has a big parking and the lighthouse is a short walk from the field parking.
