I have been going to Jacob Riis Park Beach for 19 years and it is my favorite place on the planet (very close second is Puerto Rico!). I always buy a parking pass and have never headed out here from Jackson Heights less than 15...More

If you want to go to a pretty beach in this area, you have to hit the Hamptons or Fire Island. That said, those are expensive, a huge pain to reach or both. And not exactly an easy day trip if you don't have friends...More

Jacob Riis Park has a huge coastline along the Atlantic ocean. I went there for the first time to touch the Atlantic. :P long sandy beach, lots of lifeguards and lots of people having fun with families.

Went here on Sunday. Beautiful day for a beach trip. Got there by 9:30 and had our pick of spots right near the water and our choice of a parking spot as well. Don't get here late....it gets CRAZY crowded!! Water was cool and refreshing....More

Look, this is not the Mediterranean or the Caribbean, but on a really hot summer day this will definitely do. Enjoy with friends and family or alone. Also, the traffic on Marine Parkway can be a mess, so I would advise getting there early.
