Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I first paid a visit to the Lent Riker Homestead last June.Hidden away on 19th Road in East Elmhurst this landmarked homestead is the oldest living residence in NYC and probably the United.States. Wondering around the hidden garden, cemetary and touring the property was a throw back to colonial times , and a great experience for history buffs like myself. The Lent Riker Homestead offers selective tours throughout the year and anyone planning to come here should contact its owner, Marion Duckworth Smith well in advance. I will be back for another visit next week. Overall, highly recommended for anyone planning to visit Western Queens.

350 year old Dutch colonial private home next to the entry to Rikers Island Correctional Center. The tour is led by Marion, the owner, who has an astonishing collection of WW I artifacts, Broadway Memorabilia, antique toys, and cow sculptures. Also an ancient cemetery! All described with great verve. An afternoon to remember! Well worth the trip to Queens.

This is billed as the oldest house in New York City and it is filled with fascinating objects. The tour is led by Marion Duckworth Smith and costs $25.00 per person. Send her an email at the address on her website.

Folks are free to stroll thru the garden and take photos. A diagram of the cemetery with the inscriptions of all 132 tombstones is included with the tour. A walk thru of the downstairs living quarters is given by Mrs. Smith.

Unexpectedly interesting.
