The New Croton Dam is not so new, completed in 1906 as one of a string of reservoirs serving New York City's water supply. The dam is a beautiful wall of stone rising high above a large park area, perfect for picnicing or relaxing. While...More

There is a beautiful, 97-acre park at the base of this dam. It is a good place to chill-out, relax, picnic in the quiet surroundings, take photos, and get some fresh air. At the time of our visit, there were few people here. There were...More

This place is beautiful. There is a large park area, so a perfect spot to bring a picnic lunch and eat looking at the falls. From the parking lot, there is not much of a walk to look at the falls. No hiking required.

What a beautiful spot! Having seen pictures, I had to go, and am glad I did. It has a grassy area for picnics, facilities, play area for kids, and the most amazing dam I have seen! Just spectacular!! Honestly, words can not describe it!!

Croton Dam is the second largest hand hewn stone structure in the world. Second only to the pyramids. Most people don’t know that! From the top or from the bottom, this is a beautiful sight to behold. Croton Dam has its own Facebook Page where...More

Pictures do this place no justice! The sheer size of this place is insane. An absolute must see destination if visiting the hudson highlands area. You must also visit the top of the dam to see the reservoir and the water flowing over the top.

Between the grassy park area, paved walk (up top), play ground, miles of hiking, and even outdoor cooking facilities (grills), this is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Bathrooms were beyond gross, however. Note: Sometimes there is a county park worker asking for a...More

There's not a lot to see here, except some of the most amazing stonework that you'll ever see. It's a perfect example of the artistry and craftsmanship of the Italian immigrants who built this at the turn of the century...the other one, not the latest...More

We went there towards the end of the day and the scene was beautiful. There were families playing and picnicking all over. We drove to the top and all of the views were spectacular.

I've been here a couple times to take photos of the dam. It's also a great place to walk dogs and kids to play. The only major downside is the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. There are two porta potties but look like garbage dumps inside.
