Two years ago, we made the trek to Upstate NY's Glimmerglass Opera to see Rossini's seldom-performed "The Thieving Magpie" ("La Gazza Ladra") after hearing it broadcast on a local classical station. The drive was long; we got very lost in Cooperstown; and we barely made...More
West Side Story was a nice production tho not one of their best re: voices. Only Maria had a great voice. But singers aside, this is a wonderful venue for theatrical presentation. They now close the sides of the building automatically so it can get...More
4 years in a row and again 5 Stars👍 West Side Story was fabulous, the voices, the set and Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the house😎. Apparently she LOVES Glimmerglass as much as I do😊. This is a MUST destination every summer!
First time at this wonderful venue if you don't count the times I was on this property back when Tom Goodyear had his turkey farm here. Saw The Barber of Seville and really had a great day. This is a special place.

The drive up Route 28 to Cooperstown was lovely. Parking was easy in their...More
I travel annually to Cooperstown and wouldn’t miss a production of Glimmerglass. Francesca, the director, is so thorough and thoughtful about the presentations and the people. You feel as if you’re in a tiny fantasy as the opera is housed in a old big converted...More

Sitting in center orchestra surrounded by everyone fanning themselves with programs just to ward off heat exhaustion - and that was before they closed the metal side walls. Performance was delayed waiting for a bus load of people to show up, with the metal sides...More
We were in Cooperstown for two performances by Glimmerglass Opera, The Cunning Little Vixen and Il barbiere di Siviglia. Both were very good: the Janacek work very lyrical, and the Rossini as sparkling as ever. Performances that stood out: Eric Owens as the Forester and...More
I LOVE West Side Story. I acted and danced in a camp production many years ago, so I know all the words, all the pauses, the links from one song to the next. So I was very excited last year after the Porgy and Bess...More
