Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had not been back to see the Bronx Zoo in over 40 years. It was a pleasant experience to see that it is still there, acres and acres of natural habitat for wild animals in the midst of a concrete jungle. We were told that admission is free on Wednesdays, we were there on a Thursday so we had to pay.

Anyhow, we were fortunate to see tigers, leopards, gorillas, and even the lions. However, the lions were lounging about when we passed their enclosure and did not do much activity. The other animals, such as the tigers and the gorillas, walked around close to the glass so we could really see them in action. One particular pleasure was to see the pink flamingos. For some reason, a park worker came out and chased them away after a few minutes, an interesting sight.

The park was not overly crowded, there were lots of children. Before we left, we were able to ride the carousel, there is no extra charge for doing that. To see the major sites within the Bronx Zoo takes a lot of walking but is, in my opinion, well worth it.

Worst zoo I have ever visited. Barely any animals on display, exhibits closed. The animals that were on display were in exhibits looked so run down and the animals looked sad and depressed. It was actually upsetting to see. Would definitely not recommend going

Spent a day at the zoo, and did a cheeter encounter. This was a wonderful experience, well worth doing, and the zoo itself is amazing.

Disappointed by lack of large animals outside. There were no staff members to ask directions or receive information from. They charge a regular price but many exhibits closed and large animals not available to be seen . Had been to the providence zoo two weeks prior and all their large animals were outside with a staff member available at almost all exhibits for information. No staff available at all within park. Very disappointed. If you are into small creatures within exhibits inside buildings this is the place for you. Interior spaces all dark and ver difficult yo keep track of children. Literally to dark and dreadful smell in all buildings.

Beautiful zoo. Well kept and very fun to explore. The animals were all amazing! Lots of walking. Paths are well marked and peacocks that follow you around are awesome!

Most of the animals were active and out and about. We were pushing my son in his wheelchair and found most area’s accessible and with good signage as to the route we should take. He enjoyed riding the tram in Asia and the carousel. Park was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Best time ever!

A good visit ideal for anyone with a fascination with wildlife. you need placy of energy and its spred out but worth the hike.
The animals seemed to in open kind environments although the large birds seemed a little cramped in their cages
Cafe spacious but expensive for what it is

On July 25, 2023, we visited the BRONX ZOO, in New York. Since I'm fond of wildlife, I enjoyed viewing an immense variety of wild animals well preserved in their fitting environments.

The zoo contains a broad range of species from carnivores to herbivores, from amphibians to reptiles to avifauna.

I've attached some of the selected images, caught in my camera, for you to share.

Hope you'll like this wildlife thru my photography and I'll be happy to receive your comments.

Best regards.

Post Script:
Upsides of the Zoo
# The zoo is enormous and provides a fitting ambiance in the enclosure of respective wild species
# The animals look healthy attesting to their appropriate care
# Provides bus rides (similar to monorail) inside the campus so aged people and children can view the zoo with good ease
Downsides of the Zoo
# Only one tiger! We expected Siberian tiger, Sunderban tiger, Malayan tiger
# Found no leopard. No snow leopard. No Cheetah! Why this iconic zoo missed these beautiful carnivores I don't know.
# Only one lion! Usually, zoos sport a pride of lions that adds beauty to any zoo.
# The famous Kodiak bear is missing. Nor you can find the polar bear--the show stopper!
# The number, as well as the variety of serpents, are very few and far between
# There should have been a Chimpanzee enclosure with a family of chimps delighting the spectators
# Many birds are caged denying the photographers access to photograph them. The wire-mesh enclosure should better be replaced by glass walls at least on one side

There’s so much to do and see! The children’s zoo is a must for kids less than 11! Lots of walking! But there are electric vehicles, strollers and double strollers to rent ( we didn’t use this)
There is a carousel. Lots of ways to view animals.
