A truly amazing view of the Hudson Valley along with a thrilling ride up to the tower. Never knew that such a gorgeous rural setting existed so close to the congestion and overly populated City Of New York!
This is a drive worth taking. Great for families, couples or anyone seeking some peace away from the frailty grind, you will find it here. You could sit here for hours, pack a picnic and enjoy the views.

How long it takes all depends on which trail you're hiking. The Major Welch trail is steep and challenging. The rebuilt AT is steep but has excellent stone steps for 3/4 of the way. If you're in shape and a decent hiker, it shouldn't take more than an hour. If you want to do the Major Welch up then AT down, that's about a 4 hour hike. And wear hiking boots.
