The Namaqualand Flower Tour (August and September 2019 and 2020) is a time for Discovery; Exploring and Adventure.
We hope that the Flowers will be good this year; However we will be exploring and discovering places few South Africans even know about. You will see some breathtaking view sites as well as places of historical and natural beauty and interest.
Do not miss the opportunity to come on this tour with us. Now is the time to make your reservation. Peter is waiting for you to contact him.

This tour departs in August and September of 2019 and 2020.

Spend Seven Days meeting new people and exploring together. It is important to book well in advance as accommodation is at a premium during the Flower Season. Please make your reservation no later than 30th June each year if possible.

Somehow, I expected somewhat more of this trail. It is not as easy a walk as stated, with some sites a bit difficult to get to. More Infos about how old the sites are and who did them were missing. The sites would be a great opportunity to talk about the San culture.

Our 9 and 12 year old girls enjoyed this. Such a nice activity. We started at 930 am and it was already very hot so I would advise arriving at 8 when they open. It is like a treasure hunt with the map that you are given as your only tool to help you find the ancient wonders. You get a glimpse into the terrain that these indigenous people of our land had to deal with. The vibrant colours and detail of their drawings and paintings leaves you in awe. It’s fascinating how these have survived for 100s of years. The water hole at the river is a nice half way spot to take a dip and freshen up. Clambering on all the rock formations is an added bonus.

It was worth the trek from Citrusdal, the drive to Sevilla is dramatic with all the rock formations. The trail itself is closer to 6km (than 4km) but it is a easy to moderate walk. The weather was in our favour being early December. We loved the variety of paintings and the first paintings we have seen with women also depicted.

The self-guided walk of about 5km was an amazing experience for our entire party - young and old. The San rock-art is beautiful, and is extremely good condition. The variety of subject matter - both human figures in different poses, animals (incl. eland and elephant), and handprints. The map provided at the start is useful, but to fully appreciate the experience, it is suggested that one of the more detailed guidebooks are purchased.
