Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to our 2nd Comedy show there and it was fantastic again. Food, service and comedy was great. They put on a super buffet if you like that and good price too. But saw others order food and it looked like good sized portions. But we love the buffet and go that route.

Given its location and the level of talent they attract this place could easily have earned a five star rating. There are a few reasons that didn't happen.
Positive
1. Excellent talent
2. Has the feel of a NYC comedy club without going into NYC
3. Good location.
4. Easy to buy tickets on their website
Negative
1. The night we went the second level was completely empty and remained empty for the entire show except for one full table of about 6 people. We asked (with our general admission tickets) to sit up there since the first level was a bit crowded. They refused our request because they told us the second level was "fully reserved". If it was, it must have reserved by ghosts because there were only 6 people up here when we arrived 10 minutes after the show started. For the duration they consistently refused to let any new arrivals sit up there. Clearly that would have made it more comfortable for not only the new arrivals but also for the folks who were already squashed into the first level. My guess is that it is easier for the wait staff to have everyone in one spot. Clearly this puts the comfort of the customer behind the convenience of the staff.
2. They will not let you pay your bar/food tab until after the show ends, when everyone is trying to pay it at one time. This isn't because they want to keep the wait staff off the floor for the benefit of the customers so they can continue to have an unobstructed view of the show (as the wait staff continues to wait on the tables until the end of the show). Instead it appears to be because they want to ensure folks will still buy more food/drinks right up til the show ends. Again, this shows the comfort and/or convenience of the customer is not a primary concern.
3. The food prices considering the size of the portions are way out of line. If you do go, eat before you get there or after you leave as there are several excellent options within walking distance.
4. Our waiter was excellent. However, check in took 10 to 15 minutes even though there was only one couple ahead of us when we arrived. The guy who assigns you a table and escorts you there acts like he is giving you his first born child.
Overall, its not that bad because the shows/talent are excellent and for that reason you and the rest of your group will leave at the end of the show in a good mood despite the rude staff. However, the deficiencies in how they treat customers will come back to bite them if a competitor ever opens its doors nearby.

I was in the area for business and was looking for something to do since my meeting ended at 3:30. I saw that there was this comedy club and thought I would give it a chance - especially since I saw a familiar performer was there - Piff the Magic Dragon from Americas Got Talent.
The club was a nice size - intimate and yes a little tight as I sat at a round two-top table, but it was doable. The tickets were easy to but ahead online and were reasonable for this show at $32. The required 2 item minimum per person wasn't bad - you could order 2 sodas at $2.50 a piece. The neighborhood was safe as I felt very comfortable walking from my hotel at night to and fro. Overall a great way to spend the evening!

I hope many will read this and avoid this hole. took over an hour then they serve two drinks at same time for their minimum, throws food on table. Then Bonnie Mcfarland starts here mumble session, and starts her normal crowd attack. So after no response or laugh from anyone, and a complaint about the service, $200 spent, they come over and ask you to leave for being to loud? You kidding me? Then they try to force you to pay? NOT. Then they call the police, make up a huge lie which dispatches a 12 officer response and a supervisor. Really? Tell me I cannot leave now because I refuse to pay. Then cops say they said I wouldnt leave? I say all I have to to is leave? they say yeah, I say thats what I was trying to do as they told me I had to stay until they arrived. Liars and thieves. Months of planning , and advanced call about a special birthday party, to be tossed out without warning or reason? See you in court as directed for our bill, our transportation services and our entry fees. Hope it was worth it. AVOID. Overcrowded, push a bill on you without any service or satisfaction. Have went to Catch a Rising Star for many years well worth the extra $$. You can have your dump.

This is purely a review of the club, not the comic:
It's a comedy club; small stage, brick wall, a spotlight and lots of people packed in tight. The place is small and you will see the comic from any seat. VIP is inches from the stage, there is a second "balcony" which is really just the back of the house slightly elevated by a few steps. They sat 4 people at a table for 4, I didn't see any over seating and this was a sold out show. If you have general admission seats you MUST get there early for a better seat. We were 2 people and got there at 5:20 for the 7:30 show. We shared a table for 4 with 2 other people and were maybe 4ft from the stage. The fashionably late will not be happy and they don't care if you think you are special, your late....you get what you get.
Tables are very small and its gets cramped as drinks, food and water gets stacked up. Anything requiring a fork and knife is a bad idea, go finger food and have dinner somewhere else.
We got a flatbread and mini empanadas, both were very good. The food took about 30 min to come out but was hot and fresh. The drinks came in very reasonable time. The servers work the crush of orders well. Our server was polite and quick.
I expected a cattle crush in and out, crappy food, and lousy seats based on many reviews here. We had a good time, great munchies, a few drinks and I will go back.
Saw Leslie Jones who did a 90 min set that felt like 15 minutes she is well worth the ticket price. Her opening act was also really funny.
Get over yourself if you are looking for up scale la la la. Wanna have a great time with zero pretentiousness...come here and enjoy yourself.

If you see a comic, their material should constantly be fresh. I found myself thinking, I've heard these jokes before (two New Year Eve's ago) and my husband and I just sat there feeling ripped off.
The place itself is fine, although be aware that there is a two order minimum per person so that can add up. Also there's a feeling of being cattle herded out of the place which is quite annoying. I actually liked my coffee liquor drink though my husband thought the coffee was very weak and not high quality. Probably never going back, all in all.

Don't fall for their "New Years extravaganza". First we waited outside for half an hour in the freezing cold because they oversold tickets and couldn't find seats for everyone . There was supposed to be a buffet but it was closing down by the time we got in so we grabbed some disgusting ziti eggplant green beans;etc. We were so crowded I felt like cattle. I paid over $230 for these tickets. Biggest waste of money and worst New Year's Eve ever. They wouldn't refund our money either. Live and learn.

I understand a 2 drink minimum but having to wait 25 minutes after the end of the show is pathetic, especially if you are paying cash. On a posture note the drinks were good

Always a good time coming here, great prices and location. Beats the trek into NYC when you have a great comedy club in the heart of New Brunswick.

Great place to catch a comedy show! Vinnie Brand, the owner, opens most shows welcoming all guests, introducing some of the biggest names in comedy! We've seen Amy Schumer, John Oliver, Kevin Nealon, Chris Rock, Whitney Cummings, Margaret Cho, Mike E. Winfield, Brett Ernst, to name a few there! Always a great time!

Hi! We usually have GA and VIP seats for each show. General admission are first come, first seated- so we recommend you get there early to get the best possible seats. VIP tickets include seating in the priority seating area ( the tables directly in front of the stage) as well a champagne toast and strawberries for each guest.

Hi As long as it's not a sold out show you can purchase tickets at the door. However, our shows frequently sell out so we highly recommend purchasing your tickets before you get to the club. You can purchase the tickets online, on the phone (732)545-4242, or come into the Club. See you soon!

Hi!
THanks for reaching out! Our shows are about 90 minutes long from start to finish. Give us a call if we can help!

Have they added any new wines by some chance? I loooooove this place but after having amazing wine at a restaurant I’d love to continue with at the least a decent glass of wine. There’s no choices of wine here and the Red is always gross.

I’m sorry i don’t know for sure but I have never seen them collect money and I sat near the door last time . When you come in they ask your name that you reserved under or to see the confirmation on your phone .
