Visited on a glorious late summers day (16th Sept). The car parks were packed by 1pm. Bring food and drink because there is very little available. In peak seasons you have to pay to get into the national park. Be very careful if you swim,...More

We took our 7 year old grandson here on a day when the temperatures reached 98 degrees. We still climbed the 100 or so steps to the top and were rewarded with a distant view of the Manhattan skyline. Our guide was great - full...More

Visited with our grandkids who completed the extensive junior ranger program. The adults really enjoyed the interesting visitor center, the walk to the top of the lighthouse , and the recreated officer’s home from WWII.

Love it. There is always parking and doesn't get too packed on the sand. Nice and clean but I can't stand all the smoking people.

Make sure you plan on spending a few hours exploring the old army housing the Sandy Hook Lighthouse surrounds. Beautiful peaceful area great for a picnic or a casual stroll doing the day. The lighthouse is closed due to renovations until May so be advised.

If you like history, you will love this place. Plenty to see, from the barracks, lighthouse, bunkers, big guns, beaches, etc. Rent a bike and ride along the paved trails, visit the beaches, surf fish or just hike around. Barbecue areas near the lighthouse as...More

Great history of the area in the light keeper's house but the lighthouse itself is under reconstruction and will be closed until next spring.

Easy to get to, no entrance fee after Labor Day. Lots of history here and with interesting and informative displays - and Fort Hancock is right next door. Easy parking, too. Kid was disappointed as one has to be 4-feet (48 inches) tall to climb...More
