Love it. There is always parking and doesn't get too packed on the sand. Nice and clean but I can't stand all the smoking people.

This lighthouse is not extremely high, but could be a little tricky to get to the top as you need to go through a small door at the top to gain access to the very top at the light. A small room adjacent to the...More

Make sure you plan on spending a few hours exploring the old army housing the Sandy Hook Lighthouse surrounds. Beautiful peaceful area great for a picnic or a casual stroll doing the day. The lighthouse is closed due to renovations until May so be advised.

Had a short visit at the Sandy Hook Lighthouse. We knew the lighthouse itself was closed for renovation, but the small house was a nice look-see and the rangers were knowledgeable about the Middletown area. Drove around the now-defunct Fort Hancock and Proving Grounds near...More

We went to this area for biking and saw the light-house from the outside. It is beautiful and well maintained. If one is following the Multi-use Path, you will not miss it. There are benches and we sat there and took a few pictures. Beautiful...More

I love visiting Sandy Hook and the lighthouse is no exception. Being more local, and how crowded it is during the late spring/summer, my favorite time to visit is in the fall and early spring.

The lighthouse is simple and basic - there are a few spots for a picnic and a really great bird sanctuary in walking distance. There are remains of the WW2 defenses - large cement batteries and pill boxes that were constructed during the war.... and...More
