My niece & I did the horse riding experience for her 16th birthday yesterday and it was everything we could have wanted and more! The horses were absolutely beautiful and truly gentle giants! Our guide, Kelsea, was amazing and answered all the questions about horses I could think of along the ride. We were even able to feed the horses carrots that we brought (with permission) after the ride. We also got to see all the other horses after our ride was over. Wish we had saved some carrots for the rest of them! Wonderful experience and would highly recommend. Also beautiful scenery along the way!

This is a small family owned farm with about 15 horses. These Clydesdales are very gentle animals. They appear to be well taken care of and the owners are in touch with their moods. We took an hour hour trail ride through a wooded area next to the farm. We had 5 riders and three guides. It was a walking pace. We were allowed to hang around the farm afterward and visit the horses. We brought apples and carrots to feed the horses. Cost was $75 cash and we also gave a tip. I emailed prior to our trip but did not get a response. I left a telephone message and got a call back in 10 minutes. I made the reservation over the phone. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves horses.

I've admired this farm's Facebook page since 2011.. Well, I finally took a few days and traveled from Long Island, NY for several trail rides and lessons in the arena. I was more than impressed with their string of well cared for Clydesdales and impeccably clean barn, not to mention the perfectly blown out feathers on the herd's legs. Spent three awesome days riding at Willow Grove and looking forward to returning again and again... If you're an experienced rider and looking to improve & refine skills they have some nicely trained horses. The trainer Morgan was a great teacher! Stayed at the Neighbour House B&B down the road and it was lovely.

2 years in a row this has been an excellent experience! I arrange group events for adults and Willow Grove Farm could not have made it easier for me. We were a group of 14 people. The farm split us in 2 groups for a historic wagon ride for half and a horseback trail ride for the other half, and then we switched. The Clydesdale horses are magnificent creature! They're demeanor is gentle for the young and old alike, but that doesn't mean boring. They are huge, which puts a little awe and a tiny fear in everyone, but they are sweet and personable. Furthermore the trainers are exceptional. They know how to handle the horses, but more importantly, the people. We need far more hand holding and instructions. They even lit a campfire for us to enjoy some smores and the beautiful view after the riding was over. I love this farm!

I took a trail ride with Willow Grove this past summer with my mother. I was specifically looking for a place that was open on weekdays, had nice people, had horses strong enough to accommodate my 220lbs, and gentle enough to keep my senior mother safe. Willow Grove delivered on all accounts and then some!
Before our ride, Win (owner) took us all around the stables for a little tour while our horses were being groomed and saddled. The stables were clean and had fans on the stalls for the hot summer months. These horses are in gorgeous condition - obviously well cared for and loved! They were gentle and interested in us, had good feet and shiny coats. There is a clean port-o-john for customer use, but no sink or flushing toilets.
The ride is on a public path through trees and fields. The horses were obviously used to trail-riding as they automatically formed a line while walking, but unlike a lot of trail horses, I was impressed that my horse was sensitive and he responded to my cues to slow down or go faster, or to walk beside my mom instead of just in front of her. What gentle giants!
I'm so sorry that I can't remember the name of the girl who guided us - she was a sweet girl helping the farm while on break from college and while one of the owner's daughters was on pregnancy leave. She was very friendly and obviously loved what she was doing.
When we got back, Win brought out their new colt who was just 4 months old - he was as tall as Win! What a sweet baby!
I cannot say enough about what a great experience we had. We never felt rushed - in fact, I think we could have stayed for another hour without them blinking an eye. Highly recommend and would definitely do it again!

Five friends and I visited Willow Grove Farms for an hour long trail ride this weekend. We were a group of older women, one who had never been on a horse at all in her 72 years. The rest of us had very limited riding experience.
The Clydesdales are absolutely beautiful and well taken care of. We signed releases, were fitted with helmets and then paired with our horses. They helped us mount and gave us basic riding instructions (how to hold the reins, steer, stop) and told us what to expect (horses put their heads down, try to snack along the way...). We took a lap around the ring to get comfortable and then crossed the road to the trail.
There were 2 young guides on foot with the 6 of us as we rode. They had lead lines with them so that they could take control of a horse if necessary. If any of us felt uncomfortable at any time, they were there to help out. We all felt very comfortable and safe.
The trail was beautiful as we rode through woods, alongside water, over a bridge and could smell the honeysuckle.
Our hour ride was over too soon. We dismounted (the hardest part...our legs were like noodles after an hour straddling those huge horses..lol). The staff were willing to take photos of us before and after the ride.
Overall, I would highly recommend giving this a try. Gorgeous horses, friendly and helpful guides and an experience you won't forget.

My husband took me here recently for a trail ride on the Clydesdales as a birthday present. Amazing experience! We had such a great time. The owners of the farm and our guide Carolyn are great. Perfect location right on the Columbia Trail in Long Valley. The cost for trail ride is very reasonable ($75/person). It is more than worth it in my opinion. I’ve done trail rides before but never on a Clydesdale. They’re SO beautiful. I was intimidated by their size when I first arrived but I was best friends with my horse by the end of the trail ride & didn’t want part from her when it was over.

I had a wonderful experience at willow grove. The staff was wonderful and catered both to experienced riders and beginners. The horses were truly gentle giants. Despite their size, they were very docile, well trained, and clearly well cared for. The trail ride itself was gorgeous on a beautiful quiet path that used to be an old railroad. I'd highly recommend a visit. Along with trail rides and wagon rides, they provide free barn tours and giant "pony rides" for a nominal fee.

Our daughter wanted to do a trail ride for her birthday and we decided to test out Willow Grove because of their Clydesdale horses. It was a great experience. Two of us were novices and bit apprehensive riding these giants; however they turned out to be gentle giants. The guides on the farms who accompanied us on the trail rides were wonderful and very helpful; The ride on Columbia Trail was perfect for beginners like us. The horses were wonderful and very responsive and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience- would highly recommend it!
