Good Food, Adequate Saunas, Horrible Massages
I made a visit to Island Spa in March 2024 on a Saturday. This wasn't my first visit here, but it did offer a different experience than previously had. The crowds are now much larger than in previous years. As a result there was some waiting time for the saunas (that are all pretty small in size). You can also expect quite a bit of chatter and noise in the common area. The food is good and is made quickly. The one experience that was completely new for me was booking a massage. This was a decision I would immediately come to regret. A simple 30 minute Head and Scalp Massage, which I assumed would be soothing and relaxing, instead became a test of endurance. The therapist was heavy-handed, applying intense pressure to my head, neck and shoulders. While not completely unbearable, it was far from relaxing. I ended up stopping him from working too much on my neck as this did start to become painful, but looking back I should have just cut the entire session short. I ended up with sore shoulders and a headache that night and didn't feel much better the next day. Not only was this my experience, but ALL of the members of my group who got a massage (all different ones by different people) had a similar experience. I'm not sure what's the training for the massage therpists at this place but they need to work on revamping their technique.

    I am pleased!
I am a first-timer. The cost was $45.00 for the day. Easy check in. Shoe lockers upon entry. Awesome and spacious Women’s locker room and bathhouse. Braclet key to open lockers as well as order food from the Cafe and Smoothie Store. A variety of saunas. They are all great. Some hotter than others. The sleeping room is good also. Plenty of room to spread out, relax, work, meditate. It’s a very quiet atmosphere. I did not take advantage of the spa services. I wanted the saunas only. I wanted to simply relax and not be talked to or touched. I purchased food from Cafe Island however I did not enjoy it. I will stick with items from the Smoothie store the next time.

First time it is so bright and relaxing for $45 you are able to use all the sauna hot and cold, sleep room and the bathhouse. Food was really good. You are given a bracelet upon entry and all your purchases are scanned into there when you check out they scan it and it shows your bill. You will have two lockers in the front for your shoes and one in the locker room. You are only truly naked in the locker room and bath house. The only downside is they only give you one towel and then charge you for any additional I will definitely be back

    Relaxation after Vacation
We booked two relaxation packages after a vacation to recover from the flights. While they don’t officially offer couple massages, they were very accommodating to place us together. We enjoyed our time here, and enjoyed the saunas in between our massage times. The baths are separated by gender/sex, and were very comfortable. Inside the baths are additional saunas, including an herbal steam that left us feeling great. In the overall sauna area there are plenty to choose from, our favorites were the Himalayan salt and forest bathing ones. Lastly we enjoyed food from both the cafeteria and the cafe area. We left very satisfied after almost four hours of baths, massages and sauna and finished our last hour with our meals and smoothies. We’d absolutely return again and feel more relaxed than ever after our vacation with this.

There is a 10% discount on spa services offered In the locker Room. You must text body scrub to island spa. After trying to download AQR code and going to the front desk, It appears I have to download an app. Kakao talk Is what the app is called. Or at least I think. It is a Korean app. That is OK. When you go to install it, it will not allow you to install if you do not allow access to all of your contacts. Those who have this app have already done so. Even the front desk admitted that it is used mostly by Koreans. Even the front desk admitted that it is used mostly by Koreans.I said I can not give business contacts and others to an app. I even joked that you just gave your mother phone number come up when you download this app.

I feel this is possibly unintentional but a bit discriminatory towards people who are not Korean. There is another factor that people who are a little bit older are less likely to want to give away the contacts. I think this is a bit extreme to get 10% off. At most businesses you just text a number and the body scrub. They text back the coupon. I feel this is possibly unintentional but a bit discriminatory towards people who are not Korean. There waas only a manager there. He said he couldn't do anything. I said I am sure other people or even the owner can give a body scrub for free If they wanted to. I am just looking for a simple 10% off. Give me a break!

IJust don't think it's right. If you think I am wrong, please leave a comment.

I loved island Spa the 1st time I came. It is still very nice and Covid friendly

Nice Korean Spa. They are nice to greet you upon arrival. You can either prepay on the website or when you arrive. I found the overall facilities to be clean. There was not any males allowed in the Womens area they are separate from each other. I enjoyed the body scrub. I enjoyed the food at the restaurant the food was fresh and prompt. Other people at the spa kept to themselves if anything it is the guest may use the cell phone in the quiet area.

It's unfortunate that we couldn't visit this place as we reserved an appointment prior for a surprise on my wife's birthday. We booked nov 2nd. Asked of covid19 guidelines and rules in play by their Mgmt. On the day of the reservation, nov 19th, we simply called to confirm if we need our own slips and towels. When we bluntly learned that we have to provide a covid19 test result within the last 5 days. I respect their decision of wanting it. But unfortunately their policies doesn't request it at 1st point of purchase. It's strange how the policy went in play nov 1st. We booked the nov 2nd, and employees weren't trained or forgot to mention that to me at the point of the reservation.

What's depressing is on the day on the reservation without prior acknowledgment they want to blame me for their error and charge me 25% cancellation fee. I was willing to provide a prior older test result and nothing that was from the past 5 days because we weren't informed about it. Their management simply said they best they can do is say sorry. And most is to void the fee.

It's also NOT comforting to know that the business have no feelings or concerns on their error to even offer a credit or reduced admission or anything else to make up for their failure. They want our 25% when we cancel but when it's their fault they still want 25% of the reservation.. but when you argue and based on the recorded phone call logs, your correct. They can only offer a "sorry" without the comfort or hospitality.

I really wanted to take my wife there and enjoy spending nearly $1k with of service's for her birthday as a surprise. Sadly it left me calling 20+ other spas (in front of her birthday) to almost nearly begging to get a last-minute couples appt. no compassion or payment was made for my lost in tolls, travel, gas.. or most importantly time for this business.

Will I come again? 1st impression are all it takes to make that decision.. but this business wants to apply rules & in-force them (respect to the rules) without acknowledging (main issue) them prior.

Things that could have offered.. "keep your mask on" "discounts to keep a customer to coming back" "social distance" "take in consideration that we had a older negative result and accept it due to the lack on their part" OVERALL be more hospitable & not be a stuck-up about "how great you are" "amazing prior reviews" keep in mind a customer is what makes you.. and unfortunately my negative review should be acknowledged and informed to your customers.. if you treat them just a another number.. you business will become just like another local.

This is one star is for the "deep tissue massage" that I got, I honestly believe that these masseuse are not professionally trained and certainly don't have a massage license - they don't know what they are doing! This lady doesn't seem to know what "deep tissue" massage is, all she did was pressing her elbows on my back (with a sheet in between) and trying to put her body weight against me, and just like, going back and forth on my back. Half way through I couldn't bear it anymore, I asked "is this supposed to be deep tissue massage? do you not use your hands?", then she started applying cream on my back and used her hands but just to spread the cream on my back, she does not know how knead or MASSAGE with her hands! Then I reiterated many times to focus more on my legs and not on my backs, she kept saying 30 min. doesn't have time to work on the legs, and that I should book 60 min. for her to work on my legs. When I booked this massage I asked the receptionist if I could have the masseuse focus on the legs, she said it's a full body massage and will tell the masseuse my preference. I was getting two conflicting responses. When I complained to the receptionist afterwards, this masseuse followed me out and tried to interrupt my complaints and "justified" to the receptionist that "30 min. doesn't work on legs". Well, I wish this was told me up front or I wouldn't waste $70 on a 30 min. of pressing her elbow on my back, making me want to squeeze my intestine out!
You can get this kind of nonsense massage in any outside Chinese massage parlors for half the price. Don't waste your money on their massage services!

Ouch!! I didn't know how I felt after receiving my 90 minutes Hot Rocks Massage. Only my back was massaged with the hot rocks for a limited amount of time, I should have just gotten a deep tissue massage. I didn't start to feel pain until I woke up from my sleep. However the Spa appeared to have taken the necessary safety precaution to service guests during this pandemic. I could see this being a nice facility, one fully operational. Staff was very attentive and friendly.

Island spa used to be a gem. However, their recent price increase makes it unaffordable. I spent over $250 in a package that used to cost less than $200. The place is good but not that good to justify their prices. For that I’ll go to Soho Spa.

I wanted to bring a group and they said you have to be naked in the saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs. They don’t offer something disposable to cover yourself and they do not allow you to wear a bathing suit. I do not want to be naked with my frowns and we are all religious ministers. I feel discriminated against. Management was spoken to and they were not nice or accommodating.

I’ve been coming here ever since it opened, but it has seriously gone downhill. It’s crowded even first thing on a weekday, and people talk loudly in the baths and saunas, so the atmosphere is not peaceful. I had to wait 10 minutes to check out while the receptionists checked in people who came in after me. When I complained about it, no apology was offered. I will not be coming back.
