Nice walk, allows dogs, along old path from church, through glebe around impressive ruin of castle. Foot print not changed in 600 years or more

Lovely monument with an interesting connection to Richard III and Henry VIII's mother, Elizabeth of York. Pity you cannot go into the ruin, but there is a circular walk around the castle which isn't too arduous. After visiting the castle take a detour to the...More

Really nice walk. quiet easy to walk around the perimeter, it is is nice enough on its own and you will not have to be a expert walker to get round the circuit.

We popped into Sheriff Hutton looking for a map of the area and called into the Post Office where we were directed to a footpath around the castle. The area is well fenced as private property, but you can arrange a tour by contacting the...More

I used to come to Sheriff Hutton's Camping and Caravaning Club site for years but I never realised there was a castle. Set in a lovely idyllic village atop what I suspect is an artificial mount. Lovely little walk around though the castle itself is...More

I had no idea Sheriff Hutton had a castle, never mind such a huge one. The internal area of the castle is on private land, and it is closed to the public. Though you can arrange a tour through the owners. There is a clearly...More
