Booked this after talking with owner, Cindy, who was very nice. Arrived day of horseback riding and was greeted by the other owner, Tim, who was very rude, abrupt and condescending! He treated everyone there for the ride like they were idiots. He and a helper, Riley, took us on our ride. Riley never said a word. Tim talked the entire time, making his opinions on politics, current events and Hollywood known. He pointed out a few scenery items, but mostly voiced his opinions on various current events. He continually barked orders at different riders as to what they were doing wrong. No one felt comfortable asking questions. All horses were very kid-friendly and had obviously been trail ridden a lot as they knew to just stay in a nose-to-tail line. The area was beautiful, but if given the chance again, I’d choose another outfitter.

Best experience The owners take great pride in their business and have the utmost regard for your safety. The horses are well taken care of and are so gentle.

They are the biggest joke of a so called outfitting Co. They my do a trail rides but not outfitting school. My son went there he had a list of gear we bought that he never used. Just saddled horses and took people riding. They also made fun of guest about weight behind there backs. It made my so very uncomfortable, so I told him to leave and come home early. They are not good people.

My family and I had a wonderful 2-hour horseback ride with Bear Paw Outfitters! Thank you to the friendly owners whose main priority was our safety. We even saw two moose during our ride! I would recommend this tour if you are looking for a leisurely ride in a beautiful area with a lot of wildlife.

My daughter and I went for a lovely 2-hour horseback ride together at BP Outfitters. My daughter loves horses, but had never riden one. The website touts owning all their horses, and they know each one of them so they can match a horse to a rider's experience level. The horses were all well-cared for, and exhibited a calm sense about them. Our tour guide, Tim, who owned BP Outfitters, was friendly-enough and had some funny stories to share with us. You could tell he had been doing this for a long-time. The website also stated that the outfit had been owned and operated by multiple generations of their family. With the attention to detail when it came to instructions and adjusting the saddle and stirrups, I was at ease all during the ride. Tim also stopped one time and took a picture of us (hence the pic of my daughter and I). That was a nice touch. In the picture, you may see the horses with "masks" on. No, this was not a COVID thing. The very see-through, non-obstructive guard was there to ensure the horses didn't stop to eat along the trail ride. It was there so that the horses would concentrate on the task at hand. All in all, I would definitely recommend Bear Paw Outfitters to anyone who wants a non-commercialized trail riding experience, or to anyone who wants to ensure they have a joyful ride. Tim cares deeply for the horses, and ensures the riders take seriously the role they play in RIDING the horse! Safety is definitely first at this establishment.

Tim the owner and trail guide is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Has some fantastic tales to tell during the one hour trail ride in the mountains. Horses are well taken care of and Tim is very knowledgeable regarding the area. Directions are good on a GPS unit. Call for reservations and get some additional directions as this opportunity is off the beaten path. Payments are made in cash for the trail ride. The views are outstanding and Tim will take time to take photos of each rider for them on horseback. In addition, wildlife can be encountered along the ride. Trail rides are rain or shine. Beautiful way for time spent outdoors enjoying a trail ride.

My 8 year old daughter wanted to go horseback riding on our trip to Montana and Wyoming so badly! While staying in Livingston we chose to go riding with Bear Paw Outfitters and were not disappointed. Tim (the owner) makes it very clear and apparent in a stern way that safety is his first priority and we indeed did feel very safe. The horses were WONDERFUL! My children (ages 6 & 8) were completely on their own with their own horse and they did fabulous. It was a beautiful ride through the mountains and we had great instruction which made for a relaxing, fun time together as a family! Highly recommend!

Tim and Cindy have a well organized outfit for customizable horse rides. Tim takes his time to explain safety and is in full control of the party for our 2 hour ride.
My nine year old son felt safe and
secure riding (chief). My horse and my wife’s mule was responsive to the reins. The views and single track trails were authentic and spectacular. Tim, thank you for your patience and guidance for a great time,. We come back to paradise valley we will look up bear paw outfitters.

My family of 5, with kids from 10 - 15 had an amazing 3 hour trip into the hillside of Paradise Valley with Bear Paw Outfitters. This was undoubtedly a Top 3 highlight for our 2 weeks in Grand Tetons and Yellowstone! We haven't done a lot of horseback riding in the past, but my kids are still talking about this trip. We had plenty of room for the horses to spread out so we weren't "tail to nose" the whole way. The horses are well trained and know the way, yet they take direction well. For the 3 hour trip we had plenty of time to get up into the hillside and enjoy the spectacular views of Paradise Valley. We even got to do a small stream crossing each way.

Tim is a little tough for those who are thin-skinned, but it's all part of the rugged Montana horesman charm. He's clearly dedicated to safety and the care of the horses. As a 4th generation, he knows a lot of history of the area.

Tim Bowers is the best guide my friends and I have been with, he is tough and strict, but he does it so every rider is safe. He stressed safety first, and was very friendly and accommodating. His goal for our ride was to keep us safe in order for us to enjoy it. We were able to experience this ride the right way. He taught us to turn our horses, stop, and how to act around them. Not only this, but the views were unforgettable. I recommend this ride for everyone, I was never worried for my safety. FYI, the private lunch ride are impeccable.
