I spent an hour and a half here studying the stained glass. I've been to cathedrals literally all over the world, and this may have had the most stunning stained glass I've ever seen. What an honor to get to worship in this place.

The twin spires can be seen from many parts of the city, including Mt. Helena.

The stained glass was beautiful. It rivals that found in many European churches for the color and detail.

Also note the chandeliers, and the detail on the ceiling and arches.

The church doors were open on Wed and we were able to walk through and admire the glowing windows and glorious architecture. The music provided a serene, meditative experience. Doesn't take long to visit, but we stayed a little longer just to sit in the pews and pray and meditate. And I am not even Catholic.

Churches are always interesting to visit on our travels. The Cathedral of St. Helena is stunning - outside and inside. It is a can’t miss architectural wonder in the heart of the city with spires that extend high in the sky. The stained glass, visible on the outside but fully comes to life on the inside, was made in Europe with various panels depicting biblical scenes. A nice place to spend some quiet time as well. A highlight was hearing the organ – an improvisation on the chant hymn Veni Creator Spiritus. The church’s pipe organ is wonderful - if you get a chance to hear it at mass or if there happens to be a musical performance on the calendar, highly recommended. It sounds wonderful in the acoustic of this church and there is nothing quite like experiencing the sound (and feel of air) rushing through the pipes in a naturally reverberant space like this.

This is a beautiful building in Helena and well worth a stop. While the structure does look elegant from outside, what makes this worth a visit are the very awesome glass stained tall windows that adorn the walls inside. The stained glass windows were imported from Germany and are exquisite to look at. Like most other cathedrals, it is a very calming and peaceful place to be in. The church is situated a few blocks from the Last Chance Gulch area and is open to the public.

30 minute free organ recital Thursdays at 1 pm. Could feel the vibration from the pipes in the pews. Beautiful windows. The church is on a treed residential hill overlooking the downtown area. The view from the front doors is great. Walk around the building to the side away from the parking lot to avoid stairs. There is an elevator on the parking lot side of the building.

We drove by the cathedral numerous times before we actually stopped there late one afternoon. Beautiful stained glass windows, lovely flowers outside in September....I felt as if I were in a European cathedral, not in Boise....because it was modeled off a cathedral in Vienna. Peaceful and uplifting....a real treasure.

We had visited thenStatenCapitol so walked to see the Cathedral. And it was definitely worth it. The cathedral is large (certainly by US standards) and picturesque outside, but it’s the inside that’s really impressive. Sadly so many churches remain locked when not in use these days, but this one was open. The altar is stunning as is the vaulted roof but the most breathtaking part is the stained glass. Well worth a visit.

Breathtaking is all I can say. The architecture, the stain glass windows, the peace and tranquility you feel when you walk inside the cathedral is just incredible. This is diocese for all of Montana and it is worth a visit to see. It is beautiful in its simplicity. Unlike the cathedrals you would see in Europe this definitely has the Western mentality in its design...clean, simple, to the point and because of this it still manages to take your breath away. The stain glass windows are incredible and rarely have I seen so much in one building. You kind of expect it in places like England or Germany or France or even St, Patricks in NYC but to see these windows in all their glory and splendor is just awe inspiring. The folks in Helena have a lot to be proud of and definitely have some solid bragging rights when it comes to their Cathedral. Go see this. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful cathedral. If nothing else, go see the incredible glass. It was built 1904, but it easily looks older and reminds me of the churches in Europe. If you go on a Saturday in spring/summer, they run a farmers market which was awesome!
