We booked In Our Nature Guides for two tours: a 6 mile hike in Yellowstone and the early morning nature viewing. The hike was excellent. Nancy, our guide, is a fountain of information! She also had an amazing eye for spotting tracks and other evidence of animals such as paw prints, markings on trees, and lots and lots of different types of poop. The kids asked questions for 6 hours straight and Nancy fielded them brilliantly! The early morning nature viewing was a very cool experience. We got to see a pack of wolves frolicking in a field, many bison, and mountain goats. Nancy and Cara did a wonderful job managing our party of 8 with the scopes and keeping us moving to keep the kids' attention spans. We would highly recommend this group of guides. In hindsight, we were very happy we didn't try to do it all on our own. It is a much better experience to go with someone who knows where and when to be!

From the moment I contacted Cara, I knew I chose the right person to book a tour with. Cara is a biologist, communicative, knowledgable, and easy to work with. I requested a call to discuss the tour and options before committing considering that my group would be large - 10 people. Cara was happy to do so. When we spoke, she gave me an overview of what she offers and explained the need for two guides, how the tour would look and the cost. She asked what animals we hoped to see so that she would have an idea of how to frame the tour. Also, due to size of the group and current affairs with the pandemic, we would have to follow Cara in her vehicle. I was sold and booked a full day wildlife/nature tour.

On the day off, we met at Zero Dark Thirty because as Cara said "that's when the animal are up". We met at 05:30 hours and Cara and her fellow biologist Garret. Cara had coffee, tea, hot chocolate for us. Nice touch. She provided two-way radios to communicate while we drove. It worked excellent, we didn't get separated, and Cara and Garret gave information about Yellowstone and the animals, as well as a little trivia as we drove to each location.

Once we made it to a location, Cara and Garret set up high powered spotting scopes to view the wildlife. We were lucky to see a grizzly bear, a pack of wolves feeding on a bison carcass, bison, bald eagles, mountain goats, baby wolves and their den, and more. Cara even grabbed photos and videos which she emailed to me.

After lunch, Garret did a bear safety training and we were off on the nature hike. The hike was great, but be prepared for a good workout - you will see some inclines! Also, as wear layers. Cara will tell you this. It's chilly in the morning and will warm up as the day progresses.

We all learned a ton from Cara and Garret. They love questions and answered them all for us. My next trip to Yellowstone, I will be calling Cara again for sure.

We spent a full day with Cara hiking on a beautiful trail in Yellowstone that she chose for our skill level. She brought us to a beautiful lake for our lunch break (she took care of lunch and snacks AND carried them for all 8 of us!) Even though this hike was not a wildlife tour per se, Cara was able to point out lots of wildlife through sight (and sound) that we would have never known were there. Our teenage kids peppered her the whole time with questions and she answered them all! Great learning experience for all.

Our adult family of four spent a marvelous Christmas Eve day with Cara touring Yellowstone on a wildlife viewing tour. She picked us up first thing in the morning with hot chocolate, coffee and breakfast goodies. From there we entered the park and encountered bison, coyote's, elk, mountain goats, long horn sheep and a badger! It was a beautiful snowy day as Cara drove up through the park stopping to view wildlife and set up four scopes for us to view animals if they were at a distance. We were all very impressed with her knowledge and capability. She provided a nourishing lunch for both meat eaters and vegetarians in Cooke City (warmth! an indoor toilet!) It was a wonderful experience for all of us and I highly recommend her as both guide and educator. Don't hesitate to book this dedicated guide!

Cara was all we could have asked for in a nature guide in Yellowstone. Very knowledgeable on everything from the history, geology and animals of the area. What we also liked was we were never lectured on this information, she just shared it with enthusiasm like it was the first time she was telling it. Each day and each guest was clearly a fresh start for Cara that she looked forward to. The thrill of finding any animal was very apparent and she did find us many more then we would have found wandering around the massive area on our own. We will be going back for a different part of the winter season and look forward to having Cara guide us again through an area she clearly loves.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Yellowstone when you return.

cara took our family of 6 out on an all day Yellowstone adventure exploration - rarely does one come across a guide as experienced and knowledgeable as Cara. She carefullu explained the answers to all of our dumb questions with patience and expertise. She knew were the bears were located and we got to see 3 grizzlies! I would not hesitate for a second to recommend her - she was that good.

Because of the date uncertainty for Yellowstone's opening of its northeastern entrance and our scheduled itinerary, my husband and I had to cancel our guided tour with In Our Nature. We did not make this decision easily; there were numerous phone calls and emails back and forth with Tara McGary, all time-consuming and with very little hope for a positive resolution. However, Tara's continuous commitment to our questions and wishes never wavered. She called us exactly when she said she would in passing on new Park opening information. She empathized with our personal feelings and disappointment and equally reinforced a professional standard of financial accountability. I cannot praise Tara McGary's professional character highly enough.

Cara was great!!! My wife and I hired Cara as a cross country skiing guide in Yellowstone but we got so much more than that. Cara knew were to find a trail with snow (which was surprisingly scarce during our trip) that matched my beginner skiing experience level, she gave great instructions, and she had a great sense of humor while helping me up when I fell. She stopped for some wildlife viewing on the way to the ski trail and we were able to see 4 moose and a coyote very clearly through her spotting scope. She even sent us pictures of the outing, including the wildlife, a day later. She was prepared with bear spray and an emergency beacon and she was very good at wearing a mask and social distancing. We even learned about some of the geology of the park and about a wolverine siting near where we skied. We left with great memories and with a new friend. Hire her. You won't regret it.

Thank you so much for your kind review! I'm so glad that I got to share this amazing place with you this winter, despite the rather uncooperative snow conditions. Snow cover has continued to be concerning but many inches of fresh snow showed up yesterday, much to my delight! The birds are beginning to return too. So much joy! I hope you both are well and getting to enjoy some time in the outdoors this spring. I look forward to welcoming you back to Yellowstone when you return.

We spent a day with Cara on a guided hike of the Garnet Loop Trail in Yellowstone and she made it the most comfortable experience for us. She was available for communication before, during and after the hike to answer any questions we had for her. She also took my pace into consideration and ensured we took it easy, had ample water breaks, food breaks, coordinated the trail so that we had less sun exposure which helped me to complete the entire loop along with the visit to the suspension bridge over the Yellowstone River.
Her suggestions to visit the Beartooth pass and food options along the way just made the trip so much more memorable for us. We will be calling Cara again when we are back in Yellowstone.

We spent two full days with Cara looking for wildlife. As all the other reviews have stated, she provides an outstanding experience. She comes with high-powered scopes that enable one to see animals that are almost invisible to the naked eye and difficult to spot with normal binoculars. I will not repeat all of the praise that others have documented in these reviews, but rather I will emphasize that Cara will give an experience that cannot be duplicated on your own. She knows where to go to see the animals, she is able to locate them when they are invisible to those without her knowledge, and you will see animals that you would not see on your own. In addition, she is a delight to work with. There is a reason that all of her reviews are outstanding-she is that good. You will be happy if you choose to spend a day or two, or even more, with her.
