Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Every time I'm in Bozeman, I HAVE to stop at Vargos, mostly for the CD shopping. It's almost all jazz with some blues and folk. It's not a huge selection, but the jazz options are exceptionally well curate. The book shopping is more extensive. I could get most anything here cheaper on Amazon, but I love supporting the local shop.

An amazing collection of used and new books, it was difficult to walk out of the store without carrying multiple armloads. The staff are incredibly passionate on the books within the store and murmured with familiarity with each book I had brought to the register. The music selection is a treat as well!

At Vargo's Jazz City & Books you can find so many, many books, both new and used, at discounted price! It's amazing, you would need at least one full day to browse through all of them.

What a surprise to find such an amazing bookstore and CD-store in Bozeman! Great collection of books, with plenty of written recommendations. Good place as well for jazz and soul music. The seller was super kind and very helpful. I could have spent hours in this place. Long live to this bookstore!

This has to be one of the true gems of the west! I happened to wander into Vargas one Saturday afternoon while visiting Bozeman and could have stayed for hours. Hard to find books in early editions, and a great jazz/blues music selection! If you're a lover of good books, jazz and blues, don't miss this place!!

Locally owned and operated book store that carries a wide variety of literature. If they do not have what you are looking for they are willing to order it for you. Great customer service! Keep your money local and buy local.

If you're like me and always come home from vacation with more books than when you left, this is your store. A must go! I was killing time and found four hard back copies of Louise Erdrich books that I had looked of on-line, with no success. Owner packed and shipped for me for just $10 more, and they arrived home in perfect condition, each book carefully swaddled in bubble wrap and protected from the postal carrier and from each other. A wonderfully deep selection of books and a very helpful staff.

Always a must go to place when visiting downtown Bozeman. The card selection is just as unique as the extensive book selection. They also buy and sell jazz records and CDs. This is what local independent bookstores should be like. There are extensive selections of new and used books in numerous categories including: fly fishing; Montana and the the West; history and biography; rare and collector books; as well as new and used hardcover and softcover books in various categories. I always focus on the extensive collections of fly fishing, history, and rare/collector books, but I am certain other categories are as extensive as the ones that get my attention. I have been told the music selections are equally refined and well chosen. The store has been here for 35 years. A book lovers treat in downtown Bozeman!
