Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Greetings!
I’m a creature of habit and sadly last night I knocked my longtime faithful favorite tea mug fell off my night stand last night and it broke. I have others but they are not same. They are slightly larger and not as coarsely finished (too smoothed). I am looking for several replacements. It would be nice if it’s the same pattern but it doesn’t have to be. I know these are handmade and will not be the same but I’m hopefI have attached photos of the broken mug that I want to replace and one that I am not as crazy about lol. Please help!

Very nice pottery shop with knowledgeable owner. We stopped to check out the pottery and were glad that we did. They have very nice pieces and it is pleasantly displayed. They have other handmade things as well ( purses, stained glass feathers, candles). We really enjoyed the stop.

My wife had a set of kitchen cannisters created 9 years ago. She claims :>) I broke the lid to one. we live 175 miles away and happened to be passing through yesterday. The SERVICE we received was wonderful. The lady matched the lid from one they happened to have in stock from YEARS ago, and made my wife's day. Their pottery stands the test of time and we found a new French Butter Dish to boot. Thank you sooooooooooo much

Mountain Arts Pottery is housed in the same building as The Coffee Pot. We browsed while our food was being prepared and picked up a few items for gifts after lunch. The had a nice selection of pottery and soaps. A neat place to visit.

This pottery store sells mugs and dishes which are made in the studio in back of the store. The pottery is artistically crafted and beautifully glazed, and it is microwave and dishwasher safe. Included in this pottery shop is a small cafe with homemade soup, pies, pastries, and other tasty treats. Hint: the building has a large sign that says "The Coffee Pot." That's the place!

This place is small, but has more pottery than you can look at. There are beautiful mugs, bowls, place settings, canisters, etc. There is something for everyone's taste. The quality of the work is really nice. This is a nice place to browse and within this store there is a place to have something to eat. It really smelled good, but we didn't have time to stay and eat.

This establishment is tops! Worth your time to stop. Purchased stunningly beautiful pottery as a souvenir and the bakery's scones are truly to die for! Nice tables to eat outside and enjoy nature. My 2 teenage daughters enjoyed it too.

This is a pottery business with a small eating area. The baked goods are to die for, and the soups and sandwiches are great, too. I had the daily soup special, split pea, and it was outstanding. I did not care for the chicken salad sandwich. In my opinion, carrots just don't go in chicken salad. My husband had the daily special--an egg salad sandwich, and he said it was great! You order food at the counter and it is delivered to your table. I definitely recommend this establishment!

This is a locally owned shop that houses a beautiful selection of pottery and jewelry. They also have the most amazing bakery, everything I have tried is absolutely fantastic. Their soup is great and comes with this amazing nine-grain roll...Yummo! I love their brownies, their scotcheroo, everything has been awesome.

Back in in 2003, my wife and I had the wonderful good fortune of stopping by this small cabin along the Gallatin Highway which advertised 'Pottery' on it's hand painted sign. Once inside we met Jennie Lockie and her husband, David, and as happens to many people who enter this VERY special place, we just started talking to them while we perused their hand-thrown stoneware pottery.

Sensing the depth of character in this couple, I asked David at one point if he would show me his actual pottery shop and share with me his 'Story'. Being a former clergyman, and a thirty-year psychotherapist, I've often found the most interesting people are sole-proprietors who take the risk to stand on their own to make a living. What a truism this became as David shared the difficult path he had taken with Jennie to arrive at their small highway store. Having lost their life savings when their excavation company succumbed to the exorbitant interest rates of the late 70's, David began a new quest to find a new career to care for his family, and ultimately was led to the hands-in-the-earth creations of his pottery.

David showed me the small modest garage where he would throw his clay creations, and shared with me his innovation of a ceiling laser device that allowed him to throw consistent shapes and sizes on his pottery wheels. He then took me into the back of the property and showed me his hand-made kiln, yet another project he had learned from books to build. Claiming he had no talent for artistic endeavors, it was clear that David was not only a very humble man, but also one led by a 'Higher' power.

Over the years we have seen the Lockie's pottery shop evolve to what today is a truly gem of a place to stop by on the Gallatin Highway, just south of 4-Corners. Whether one is hungry for the most fresh and high quality breakfast or lunch offerings, ridiculously good bakery goods, beautiful glazed pottery pieces - inclusive of full place settings - or you just want a great cup of coffee and friendly conversation, the Mountain Arts Pottery and Bakery shop is well worth the stop. However, this special place is far more than just a Pottery and Bake Shop. To know the real story is to understand that David and Jennie Lockie not only talk-the-talk of their deep faith... they walk it as well! Over the years they have helped and guided many young people, numbers of them from broken homes and self-abusive lives. The Lockie's have helped these young employed staff to learn new life skills, teaching integrity and self-discipline. It is very clear by the friendly staff - many of whom have been there for years - that this is not just a pottery and bakery shop... it's a FAMILY!

By the way, my family has been coming out to the Bozeman-Ennis area since the mid-1950's when we vacationed for many summers at a dude ranch in Ennis; over the years we've invested in homes in Big Sky since it's initial inception in the mid-1970's. One thing we've most cherished about Montana is the quality of good and hard working people and the overall friendliness that characterizes Montana Folk. And yes, the Lockie's, with their Pottery and Bakery shop, are true ambassadors of that endearing Spirit!
