I loved this trail for too many reasons to mention, it was well worth the hike, and refreshing to our tired bodies, after a day of hard biking from Alton Illinois, through Machens MO, on the Katy Trail.

We saw all ages on this 8 miles hike. Some parts are muddy and include crossing over a creek. You can take the cross over to make it a 3.5 miles hike. There are areas to stop by the river. Saw squirrels, tad poles, and...More

This is actually a pretty good trail for the area. It's hard to find hikes with much elevation change here, and this one does have a couple good hills. It only gets 3 stars because there are really only 2 or 3 good overlook points...More

On this particular January thaw day, the path was very muddy in places. Aside from that distraction, it was a nice moderate hike. We saw some families, older folks, and a few groups with dogs.
