Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Being interested in fishing and boats we found this a very interesting place to visit, and we did so on many occasions during our stay on beautiful Norfolk. We were lucky to be there when a cruise ship was unloading, so was interesting to watch the specially built tenders bringing and unloading the passengers. It was quite a novelty for us to watch the boats being launched and retrieved via a crane onto the jetty, and to see the fish that had been caught. Watching the sharks feeding on the fishermen's scraps was a bit scary, but also fascinating. Would love to be here when the supply ship comes in. Everything has to be unloaded by open wooden tender boats - just like big row boats.

Maybe the pier is an exciting place to be when the fishers are throwing unwanted pieces of fish into the water, and the sharks come in to feast. While I was there, the only thing to observe was the line of cruise ship passengers waiting to get in the tender that would take them back to the ship. However, if you want to get a souvenir of the island, the museum right by the pier is a good place to shop.

Kingston Pier is where it all started all those hundreds of year's ago. Just about all arrivals by sea land here, as did the Pitcairners when resettling on Norfolk. It is an amazing construction, and when a ship arrives bearing more goods for the population, watch with awe as the volunteers load and/or unload the goods. The dexterity of these people has to be seen to be believed. One can watch for hours as they manouevre their boats through the reef.

I thought cargo ships came in regularly on Saturdays but apparently they don't any more. So just enjoy the views. Depending on the tide it can be very rough seas or calm. If you definitely want to see unloading, contact a shipping agency on the island or perhaps the tourst info centre to find out when the next ship is coming in. There's fuel ships at Ball Bay which is also worth a look.

When the fisherman come in from a fishing tour they clan the fish here and the Bronze Whaler sharks come in for a feed, the water is so clear you can see them from the pier. Sometimes you can buy fish too - the freshest of fresh of course,

The fishermen were in cleaning their catch, which attracts the sharks. Would have loved to see the ship being unloaded.

We were lucky enough to be on the Island when a ship was unloading - very skilled operators on the lighter and tender unloaded a bus and a truck while we watched! . Fortunately it was a beautiful day and so not too much swell

Loved watching the ocean each day here, especially when rough. If you are lucky enough on calm day to see fishermen putting their boats in and out it is worth watching; also you can buy fillets direct from the fishermen at the pier some days

The colour of the sea here is amazing! I wanted to walk out to the end of the pier but I didn't quite get there. It was a little too wet with all the spray from the breakers, and the wind whipping my hair into my eyes made it difficult to see clearly. Amazing to think it is still in service today - very well built with the curved shape to deflect the waves and avoid most of the spray.
