Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Spiva today to see the new exhibits and participate in Arts in Bloom activities. The gallery is free to attend and there was a Makers Market happening today with some very talented vendors. As part of the Art in Bloom today my kids made two beautiful flower bouquets. So much fun to be had. We also placed our votes for the small works exhibits.

I've been involved with Spiva for as long as I can remember. This an awesome venue for local and national art. They offer classes in various genre on a regular basis. Everything from painting to glass work. Their attention to detail when displaying art work is beyond compare. The quality of work is truly outstanding and the viewer has three different galleries to choose from as well as a gift shop. Spiva Center for the Arts is a main attraction in Joplin!

Founded in the 1950's by Joplin's patriarch, George A. Spiva, this art center features shows and exhibits of some of the finest and most diversified artworks and photography in the Midwest. The Center offers quality of life opportunities to families, children, and seniors featuring all mediums and styles of the visual arts. Mr. Spiva was very concerned that the children of Joplin and the region would be given the opportunity to experience art and to learn about all types of art and photography. Numerous classes are offered to the children of the region to experience and create visual arts first hand. A full schedule of exhibits, shows, and classes is shown on the Center's website at www.spivaarts.org

The exhibits at Spiva have been amazing. They display a wide variety of art mediums, so it's a real treat every time. Check the exhibit schedule to find out what is on display. Spiva is closed while exhibits are being changed.

This little jewel of a museum/meeting place is worth your visit a couple times a year at least.....as the exhibits change and are varied enough to satisfy most artistic tastes.
I exhibited a few of my photographs of the tragic May 2011 EF-5 tornado and was amazed at some of the other photos other exhibitors had turned in.....for the variety, beauty and emotional context they exhibited.

This art center is an incredible place for the whole family. There are always new and interesting exhibits (3 galleries!), tons of classes for kids and adults, and always fun programs to attend. Members get awesome perks, and membership is really cheap. My favorite perks are the membership shows to display my art, and the opening receptions. You're missing out if you haven't gone to check this place out!
