We spent a couple of hours at the museum and visited all three buildings. The art was well presented with interesting, informative label copy. Unfortunately, the art wasn't all that great. Most of it was painted by a small circle of friends of the couple...More

At the recommendation of three strangers, we knew we had to stop at Heide's Museum of Modern Art. We did not go into the Museum itself but just enjoyed the Free Sculpture Gardens surrounding it and they don't dissapoint. Aside from seeing the Aboriginal Tree...More

The Heide Museum of Modern Art consists of garden-like grounds (sometimes literally) with three separate buildings that house the artwork of the former owners (now deceased). It also has a gift shop, and a bustling restaurant that had no tables available, sadly, when I went!...More

Picnic lunch would be perfect and there is no charge to go in the grounds. Not sure about dogs but you could ring Heidi and find out. The grounds are large so I imagine there would be no problem.
