The wharf is in major need of repair but is still a worthwhile stopping point. There are also many of the importing company buildings in the area. These too are derelict but give a fascinating insight into the local history.

Good place to explore & fish from when its blowy on the other side of the cape. The beach is OK when calm & Te Araroa is just down the road if you want a coffee

The wharf is actually closed to the public as it is unsafe but locals and tourists still walk along the rickety boards of the wharf to go fishing at the end.
