Came here on a cruise. The trip was in Japanese so didn't understand much but I still enjoyed the scenery and the remoteness. Surprisingly didn't spot much wildlife.

When we visited Iriomote island we participated cruise tour from pier of Ohhara port. We took first boat which started at 8:45am. They said first boat is the best time coz tide is high at that time, so that you can go into the deep...More

We took a boat tour among this unspoilt stretch of river, and could then continue on foot for about one hour or so. Pretty interesting, but there wasn't all that much wildlife to be seen (compared to for example similar places we visited in Florida...More

I visited the entrance of this Nakama River. The view of the river covered with mangrove was impressive, especially for their long roots sticking out from the river surface. You can enjoy the view of the river even from the bridge, Nakama Bridge, where you...More

I spent a chunk of New Year's Eve day paddling a kayak through wonderful mangrove forests along the banks of unspoiled Nakama River. Temps were comfortable (about 60F), winds were fair, and the sky was blue. It mattered little that my guide (a very nice...More

We visited when the island was just catching the edge of Super Typhoon Francisco. Many of the attractions were closed down but the island is still accessible and awe-inspiring during this time.
