Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful tour of Blyde Canyon. Our driver, Jeffery, gave us great information about the canyon’s formation and history . He tailored the experience so we could get to the game lodge for the afternoon Safari! He was previously a game tracker and gave us great information about the Kruger Park area and wildlife!

Underwhelming
Recommend only 3 rendawelts, Lisbon and berlin falls.
Skip the potholes, and others- underwhelming and overpriced entry fees to see nothing..
Not sure why everyone is so blown away by this..

There’s a lot of hype about the panorama route, and in most part it’s not really justified.

The first stop was Bourkes Luck pot-holes. At ZAR 220 for a family of 4, you don’t get much.

A small “canyon”.

Litter including flip flops, food packets, nappies and sanitary ware floating around.

3 Rondavels is amazing, but no signage.

Gods Window was shut due to rain (not a fault of the route

Weather dependent the views and waterfalls on this route are amazing.
The first time we tried to do this route back in 2017, we didn’t manage to see anything at God’s Window or Lowveld due to the weather and it being cloudy. This time we were lucky to be blessed with excellent weather. The route is easy to follow and as we didn’t do any hikes, we were able to view most of the ‘must see’ views in one day. One thing to take note is that care needs to be taken on the roads at present, the potholes are terrible and could cause major damage to tyres if you hit them. Get the right weather and the views are amazing!

What an amazing slow drive through the route. Lots of waterholes, if you need refreshments, and a place to kick back and have a quick bite to eat, whilst enjoying the breaktaking natural wonders on the route.

We spent two full days in the area, tagging it on to a trip in Kruger NP. We used Graskop as our base & which worked perfectly
We found the 2 days ample enough to sight see but we didn’t do any long hikes.

The route was very easy to drive…well sign posted in the most part & with not as many potholes as we were expecting from reading previous reviews!
We felt very safe in the area too, sticking to tourist areas, driving in daylight etc

Our first day was drizzly with low cloud so low we were driving in it..pretty hairy in places too….especially when you come across a herd of cows in the road! So needless to say, we saw very little but were teased with glimpses of what there was to behold.

The next day the weather gods were much kinder & we were blown away by the scenery.
Photo opportunities galore…
Berlin & Angel Waterfalls were flowing pretty good too, which were weren’t expecting.
Some view points you pay a small fee to enter, some not. Wondavels being one (with a very missable road sign telling you turn off) & in our opinion one of the best views of the Blyde river canyon & one were you hear the eerie screams of Baboons in the distance, very atmospheric.
The more pricey ones (& not pricey really) were 3 Rondavels & Bourkes luck potholes.

So was it worth visiting them all, well yes so worth it, if you’re in the area, why not!

In summary, we were blown away by absolutely stunning scenery everywhere…if you like trees this is your place!!!
The air must be so pure here.

If you come to South Africa, make sure to do the Panorama route. It is breathtaking beautiful! The view, the waterfalls, the mountains makes you feel humble and small before our father in Heaven, our Creator!
