Windmill Island Gardens is home to de Zwaan windmill, the last mill allowed to be transported from the Netherlands. de Zwaan still functions by grinding locally-grown grain into flour that is sold to visitors and local businesses. A highlight of visiting is a tour of this historic working windmill. Visitors can enjoy music from our antique Dutch street organ given to the City of Holland by the City of Amsterdam after World War II. Children can also ride on our antique carousel from the Netherlands. There are several other replica Dutch buildings and shops. The Island is home to beautiful gardens which feature tulips in the spring followed by beautiful annuals and perennials throughout the summer. Please note that the Island is open seasonally, April 14 - October 7, 2018. Last tickets sold at 5 pm.

Holland is known for the beautiful tulips and ever present in Windmill Island Gardens with other beauties. The historic windmill is incredibly interesting and the adjacent buildings provided a film and replica village, too. This is a must see!

De Zwann windmill is really historical, built in the Netherlands and still looking great till now. Love the windmill tour and the tulips gardens are amazing. Overall it was great visit and would recommend people to see this!

This is an interesting place with not only a windmill but a childs carousel alongside an organ (which has regular demonstrations) The gardens were nice but the tulips were fading at the time we visited, I would come here again but maybe not on my...More

We went here and enjoyed the tour, but there isn’t too much more to see and do, unfortunately. There is a nice gift shop and the wooden shoes are fun to try on, but that’s about it...

Wait to visit if you're interested in the gardens. We were given a list of flowers in bloom and saw very little color. Enjoyed the tour of the windmill and listened to the big street organ. That person enjoyed sharing this fun instrument and our...More

This was a last minute decision - as in we saw the billboard on the highway and decided to go. (Yes there are actually 30 year olds who read/fall for these!) We managed to get there in perfect timing to listen to the street organ...More

An absolute must for your visit to Holland! Make sure you tour the interior of the windmill! It is especially nice during the tulip festival. The buildings are authentic to The Netherlands.

I went in spring, just after the annual Festival. The flowers were still beautiful and colorful mixes. You can walk anywhere on the grounds, not just the sidewalk, and get close up photos of the flowers. There was an azalea bush or two, but the...More

Pretty little village with lots of tulips. But not a lot to see for what they charge for admission. They need more bathrooms as the wait lines were ridiculous.

I don't remember seeing anything on the sign that says that and there is nothing on the website. I'd give them a call since you are local.

Get there early, Holland City did add a parking structure, not that far away. (There is also some parking on the grounds)

Hi Joyce - the majority of our tulips are in bloom right now. Cold temps help the blooms stay longer so we're happy about the cooler weather. On the 10th we should still have many tulips in bloom. Keep an eye on our website... More
