I heard about this place from a friend, so 4 of us made the trip. I had NO idea this place existed, and the best part?? IT WAS FREE! The Mott Foundation has allowed for the public to visit the estate and the gardens, free of charge. Reservations are needed for the tour of the house, but the gardens are open during regular hours. The gardens are beautiful and the house is amazing. Unfortunately, they are only open May through October and then Thursday through Sunday only. Check their website for more information.

Visited Applewood Estate for first time and was very impressed. The tour of the estate is free, But you need to call to make a reservation for a guided tour. The house and grounds are beautiful and the staff including the volunteers we encountered were the best. The guide we had for the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must stop for people who can appreciate the lives of our Auto Pioneers from back in the day.

Beautiful day and a wonderful place to visit. I enjoyed the gardens and the grounds more than the house. If You're in Flint, take the time to visit!

We actually wisited twice. The first time we visited the house. It had been raining so we had to come back on a dry day to see the grounds. You need a reservation to go through the house. There is not a charge for the tour, but they do limit the number of visitors in each tour. There are several beautiful flower gardens and an apple orchard. They also have a demostration garden. The chicken house and barn are open to visit as well. The day we were there several 4-H ers there with their goats and rabbits. You can learn a lot about the Mott family. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place is open Thurs.-Sun.. It is a free place to visit.
