Or to go to a music show. Some of the old structures are still standing from when it was mount tom. it's cool to see that. Nice hike, roads are still kept up and can walk to the top.

The reservation is decently sized with a short hike to reach the top of Mt. Tom. The view is quite nice. There is a memorial to the plane that crashed here 60 years ago which is worth a visit. On the holyoke side there is...More

Grew up in the area and spent a lot of time picnicing and climbing here. Not a large park, but lot's of room becasue it is mostly frequented by local. The exceptions are hang gliders and raptor birdwatchers. Significant updrafts on the cliff faces. A...More

What a great park with many walking trails! We enjoyed a not-too-long walk to the lookout tower that offered a great panoramic view of the rolling surrounding hills! Free parking during the off season.

I was first struck but the excellent road conditions throughout the reservation. Wish all Mass roads were so fine. Outstanding views of the Pioneer Valley abound in this destination. Drove in from the East Hampton entrance and ended up in Northampton. Well worth the trip.

There are many trails to take, they are well marked with paint on the trees and signs too. Some have great views, some are all in the trees. Many levels of difficulty as well. There are lookout towers you can go up in too.

Mt Tom falls under the state park rules. Nothing in these rules prohibit metal detectors, but they do not address their use, either. If all you want to do is scan the playing fields and camp sites for (lost) articles, then... More

Mt. Tom has always been a day only state park. With that, there are not a lot of camp sites in the immediate area. There is a campground at the state park in Chicopee, and camping at the DAR state forest in Belchertown. Try... More
