This state park has many intersecting and diverging hiking trails, that range from a walk in the park to challenging hikes with many ups and downs. This was once a local attraction that could be reached by street car and served as a way to...More

My hiking crew and I go to the reservation often. Sometimes for a long walk other times for a more difficult hike. The trails are well marked and there is always another view of the valley around the bend. The facilites are clean and they...More

My son and his Dog are always up in these mountains and I enjoy it when I am visiting, as well. The fall foliage was so beautiful!

Or to go to a music show. Some of the old structures are still standing from when it was mount tom. it's cool to see that. Nice hike, roads are still kept up and can walk to the top.

The reservation is decently sized with a short hike to reach the top of Mt. Tom. The view is quite nice. There is a memorial to the plane that crashed here 60 years ago which is worth a visit. On the holyoke side there is...More

Grew up in the area and spent a lot of time picnicing and climbing here. Not a large park, but lot's of room becasue it is mostly frequented by local. The exceptions are hang gliders and raptor birdwatchers. Significant updrafts on the cliff faces. A...More

Mt Tom falls under the state park rules. Nothing in these rules prohibit metal detectors, but they do not address their use, either. If all you want to do is scan the playing fields and camp sites for (lost) articles, then... More
