Just went to the John Cabot House to find it closed. Hours posted on the door as well as on the web say open until 4 pm on Saturdays. Drove the entire family here to find the building in complete darkness.More

Small, inexpensive local museum with friendly staff. The building had been used for an early bank and they still have the scales, counter and vault. You get a real sense of what it was like to do banking centuries ago.

Interesting exhibitions, informed staff, good reference library including maps. I was able to find a lot of material about a ship's captain whom I had been researching.

It's full of treasures from early Beverly. Lots of activities to enjoy tours of historic areas. Great presentations of historical figures at special gatherings. There's a train museum in the basement. Great for RR buffs.
