We hiked up Bald Mountain for more views of the fall foliage taking the shorter 1.7 mile route from the Bald Mountain Road trailhead; the other trail starts at Carry Road and is 2.3 miles in length. The weather was more pleasant than that during...More

This moderate 2.3 mile hike close to Oquossoc climbs to a fire lookout with 360° views across the Rangeley lakes and mountains, though most of the trail is through forest and the views are found mostly at the summit. Although it isn’t a loop, there...More

Moderate short hike with great views at the end. You have to climb to the top of the fire tower to get the views. The last 1/3 -1/4 of the hike is scrambling up some rocks.

Great hike, challenging for older adults not used to hiking but doable. View from the top of the Fire Tower was spectacular. Saw many families with young children and they seems to have no problems.

The mountain is not difficult to find and there is a little parking area with an outhouse. The hike took us over an hour, but we had a 10 year old that needed some convincing that she could make it to the top! It is...More

This was a terrific and fun hike. It is listed as 1.3 miles and that sounds rather short. It starts it as an easy walk through the woods but gets a little more tricky towards the top so bring appropriate shoes. Once at the top...More

We looked this hike up and found it was 1.3 miles...not too bad. Our ages were 20 months and several other children with 67 being the oldest. It was tough.
