there are a few things to do here, go up to the lighthouse, follow the path to the rocky coast and look for shells and pretty rocks. There are a few paths that are not official, and are for the more adventurous, so I would...More

I was in the Rockland area today and stopped at Owl's Head State Park. I had been there a couple of times, but not for a number of years. Unlike many of Maine's state parks, this property has no entry fee. The parking area can...More

Quite a fresh breeze was blowing the morning we went to this park with Dougal the wee Boston Terrier but thankfully it was a mild wind. It was Dougal's first visit here and he enjoyed himself running about the shore and chasing the birds. The...More

If you are touring coastal Maine and are interested in seeing some of the remaining working lighthouses along the central coast, this is a must see. Convenient access with adequate parking in a state park, it's a short walk along a scenic path to the...More

A long climb up stairs leads you to the brick base of the lighthouse. Up a metal ladder to amazing 360 views! Be prepared for a lot of heat radiating off the lamp.

It's a long climb up all those stairs, but it is well worth it when you reach the lighthouse! Beautiful ocean vistas!

It's nice to visit on a hot day in July, but it is also crowded and tough to get a decent photo from the shore. The surrounding area is not abundant; easy to walk, comfortable and beautiful. Good for a quick trip.
