A great job has been done on the extension of the dam, but it is a pity that they put the picnic area in the gully in front of the stone wall, which means no view, and must be terribly hot in summer.

This was our first time here since the upgrade of the dam and it was a lovely family afternoon out. At the bottom of the dam is the picnic ground which has swings to entertain the kids and covered BBQs and toilets. We relaxed here...More

There are usually three types of travelers that you will come across. The go-getters, the relaxer and the family groups. Sometimes there might be all three styles mixed into a group that are holidaying together and of course can proceed to become difficult when it...More

Fairly newly built, a nice cafe next to a big dam. There is a small exhibition about the dam in the cafe as well which was appreciated by my teens. No spectacular water scene at the dam today but serene walking spot nevertheless. Easy access...More

Large open spaces and plenty of room to find a quiet spot to relax on a sunny day. The dam itself is impressive as a major construction. Information about it all is provided in the main building with the cafe. Magnificent vistas all around this...More

Stopped for a quick visit on the way to Natural Bridge. There is a visitors centre with a cafe which looked very clean. You can walk across the top of the dam. Would be great to see when the spillway is open.

I had no idea that the raising of the Hinze Dam project was accompanied by such a beautiful new information centre and well designed parkland complex. We stopped by to see the engineering works and new dam wall, and ended up staying a few hours....More

Good information on the upgrading of the dam. Fantastic views, very peaceful. Check out all the picnic area around the dam. Landscaping is so simple it doesnt intrude on the HUGE panoramic views. A wonderful place to visit.
