Come ride the rails and enjoy the sights and sounds of a a by-gone era. The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad offers weekend round trip excursions and several special event trains. Our season runs from Memorial Day weekend through late October. Our primary venue is City Point Station conveniently located just a few miles off Route 1 in Belfast, Maine. However look for a few special events out of Unity, Maine too. One event being our shuttle service to the Common Ground Country Fair in September. Please see our website for our full listing of events, schedules, and fares.

Train is from the 1940s and feels like it. The ambiance of the closed cart was absolutely beautiful if you appreciate things like this. The conductor and engineer were fantastic as they were very friendly and talkative before the ride. They all volunteer and that's...More

I sincerely appreciate the volunteer work to maintain the heritage of this strip of railway. Has a unique character given the age of the car. However, I was not expecting the train to go down the track for 30 mins and then go backwards to...More

We took the train from a parking lot in Unity to the Common Ground (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association annual fair) also near Unity. The train and routes are historic, I presume. It is a short distance and takes about 20 minutes maybe. All...More

Took a ride to Waldo today on the train. It was a great time. Listening to the 1946 diesel Locomotive clink off the miles with the sound of the rails under you is an awesome sound going thru the country side. Can't think of a...More

I have been riding the B&ML every summer since the early 1980s when the road was still a full service short line railroad then owned by the city. It's 33 mile grade opened in the 1870 and while the first three miles from the Belfast...More
