I found that the guide was really helpful in pointing out the great sights of the area . He also went out of his way to give us some history . At the time of the tour they where having a street market downtown so there was a bit of congestion but he took it in stride.

It was very unfortunate but our ship was unable to get into Dunedin for us to take this trip. We contacted the company as soon as we arrived home and we were given a refund. My daughter and i will be going back sometime in the future and will see Dunedin.

Yes, unfortunately the nature of Cruise ships is that they sometimes don't make it into port for various reasons and now the rest of the season is canceled. Hope to see you in the future when things are back to normal!

A very average tour. Took a while to find meeting point sign in terminal and tour began later than originally scheduled so made the tour shorter. Tour guide. Andrew improved as the tour went on but began really it really flustered and uncommunicative. Botanical gardens lovely.

Thank you for your review. Especially thanks for reviewing an "average" tour since people often only bother to review if they really like it or they hate it. We meet in the the private tours area of the cruise ship terminal. I can be flustered at the start of tours because when people come off the cruise ships we can go from having a couple of passengers to an unknown number, (sometimes over 100) in about half an hour. Since this is difficult to plan for it can make me stressed at that time. It's like performing some adhoc miracle every day cruise ships are in. If you have any ways in which the tour could be made less average such as other places we could go or things we could do then please let me know. In general I think that it would be possible to improve the experience of the tour but it would cost more and take longer, so it's always a compromise in that regard. Regards, Andrew

We took this tour from the cruise ship, having been recommended as a good tour. We choose to purchase it online prior using the online booking on the website, however it was easy to purchase on the day at the terminal. Our first stop was at the Octagon where we had 45min of self directed touring. After that it was off to Baldwin Street and then the Aviary's at the Botanical Garden. We had about 45min there and Andrew gave some commentary as well has giving good suggestions for viewing the garden areas based on time / mobility. We finished the tour at the Railway Station / Settlers Museum which again we had about 45min to spend how we see fit. At this point we were given the option of staying in town for another couple of hours and catching the later bus back to the port. We felt this tour was really good value for money and will have no hesitation in promoting it.

Juliette, thank you for your review! I didn't sleep last night when my email notified me that a review had come in because I have had three bad ones in a row but when I checked it in the morning I found that it was good. I will mention that you presumably would have also gone to Signal Hill lookout point on the tour between Baldwin st and the Gardens. We go there unless weather conditions make it too cloudy to go there in which case we go to a lower lookout point. Again, thank you for your review.

We joined the tour as a group of 13. At the Pier we were told we will be given free time at the end in the city . But when the driver and tour guy Wai came , he bluntly told us he can only give 25 mins at the beginning of the tour and had to go back very early as he has other charters to do . We were given 15 mins at each drop off and were threatened that he would leave without us if we don’t come back on time . He is very unfriendly and had no compassion to understand this day might be the only chance we come to visit Dunedin . We missed First Church as he gave us wrong information and we ended up in St Paul . We paid close to 500 NZD for very few hrs of unpleasant experience while Wai was trying to take other passengers onboard while we stopped and only thinking of squeezing our time as much as possible. Worst tour guide we have ever come across . Suggest whoever wants to take the trip don’t paid for the return fare so at lease you have some free time in the city .

Wow with three "Terrible" reviews in a row this must be the worst tour in New Zealand if not the world! Oh well let me be apparently true to form and make it a little worse for you: First of all the tour as advertised says that people can have free time at the end of the tour, the only problem is that on this day the cruise ship was leaving early and so to allow you that extra time would have meant you potentially missing the ship. There were no "other charters to do". The first time that you have lied in this review is when you say that you were given only 15 minutes at each drop off. For a start they are not "drop offs" they are stops and one of them is at the Gardens which is at least half an hour. Unfortunately people can come on tripadvisor and tell lies as you have done. We don't advertise that we stop at First Church but if you can find such information then I will refund you more than $500. Since you were on a tour and not a charter there were other people on the bus and according "Wai" (not his actual name) one of these people became very irate with you and told you to "sit down and shut up". Because of your continued lateness at the stops other passengers became very unhappy and "Wai" told you that if it continues we will have to leave without you. Actually we will do just about anything to avoid leaving a passenger but I would have supported that action in this case. Apparently the rest of the people in your party were happy with the tour but if they're not feel free to get them onto tripadvisor and give 12 more "terrible" reviews. Since any kind of lying and deceit is allowed in these reviews you have the ability to get away with that with no consequences. Oh and the thing about the "return fare" doesn't make any sense since return is included in the tour price.
