Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There can be no excuse for the state of Stephenson Place in Ferntree Tasmania. It's a piecemeal pile of 70's architectural crap. Not an Inspiring Place at all. Try planting some ferns for starters.

Ferntree is a great place to visit for a few hours or a day. Park near the tavern and across the road there is a park where several walks begin. AN easy but steep in places walk up to the Springs for a glass of fresh water and a coffee 1/1/2 hours). Wonderful ferns, gumtrees and mountain air. Very green - very lush, the Fernglade is pretty. For a shrt half hour walk -40 minutes walk the Pillinger track and back to the tavern. The tavern food is delicious ad up market. Caters to allergies, vegans etc. Excellent cakes and seafood. Try the flathead roe - much nicer than taramsalata!

Whether in the warmer months or in the snow, Fern Tree is a great place to access the bushland around the Mountain. There is a quaint old Federation-style church and a pub for a refreshing beverage on the way home.

At the bottom of the climb up to mount Wellington and on the outskirts of Hobart. It's scenic and a great place to stay.

Just at the base of the mountain. Lots of personality. 2 big warm open fire places. Just what the doctor ordered after a trip to the top of the freezing mountain. Some old leather lounges to relax on. Does a good roast but quite pricey for location. Has an outside beer garden, 2 x pool tables and was playing some nice relaxing music.

This is a great pub , cafe/restaurant boasting three lovely wood fires one open with couches , great to warm the bones after a hike up Mt Wellington , whether that hike be in a car or on foot , settle in with a mulled wine or a beer.
The hot chocolate is not short of chocolate , the restaurant is clean and tidy ok for large groups too . Turn right at the t - intersection as you come down from mount Wellington on the Huon Rd .

I can see why this place has been open for so long- the location is great! Large trees everywhere, closest place to warm your hands around a mug after playing in the snow.
I have been here only twice so my review isn't as balanced as it could be - first time It was one of my favourite places to eat!
The second time the service wasn't good, the waitress was very rude. We were the only people there.
However, everyone has bad days so who knows what she was going through. I do not let that experience taint what this place is great for = good quality food and lots of it.

My wife and I stopped at the Tavern for coffee and cake. The cake was fresh, the tea and coffee hot, the service friendly and fast. The tables were set in a light bright area with floor to ceiling windows looking out over a wooded hillside. I would definitely come back here again!
