Went for a day trip out here while back in Gisborne visiting the family. It's a place I know well as we used to go fishing here a lot when I was a kid. Its a long jetty, but seemed a lot longer when I...More

Stopped at Tolaga Bay Wharf for a motor home lunch break and stretch of the legs to break up our trip. Well worth a visit: the information plaques were very interesting (in terms of history and engineering), lovely bay, dramatic cliffs and the walk a...More

The wharf is worth a visit. Unfortunately it is unsafe to walk on but they hope to restore it at some stage

A piece of New Aealands History, unfortunately being allowed to crumble into the sea, as time, salt water and the weather are wearing the Concrete away. Has now been closed to people walking out on. On the same access road is the abandond building of...More

The history of the wharf was really interesting & it was great to be able to walk the length of the bridge in this stunning bay. It is over 600m long. Many people fish from the end.

An easy stroll to see folk fishing swimming and if you are lucky the goat herd on the cliff face adjoining the wharf. An enjoyable piece of real NZ history

Stayed at the campground for a night which is right next to the wharf. A friendly family place and chance to walk and take photos of wharf.

We visited on a very wet and windy day which was exhilarating to say the least. It is well worth just stopping and reading the story of the wharf on the fabulous entrance before setting off, this will certainly enhance the walk just imagining what...More

We walked down to the end of this wharf and could imagine the history and how it used to work. Perhaps replace the missing life ring that used to be there! Many people were in the water surfing. I recommend it as a bit of...More

Spent some time wandering out to the end of this wharf. Great that they have kept it restored and useable. Some hopeful fisherman using it as well but did see much being caught on this trip.
