About
Ranked #1 by Trip Advisor of attractions in Richmond, IN, the Model T Museum’s amazing collection of Ford Model Ts and automotive artifacts is ever growing and changing. See the stars of the collection: a 1909 Touring, a rare 1912 Town Car, a 1925 fire truck, and the first Pietenpol Sky Scout airplane with a Model T Engine. The museum's campus contains two extensive buildings. Educational opportunities include a reference library; a cutaway chassis that reveals the inner workings of the T; plus a gift shop complete with variety of manuals, publications, CDs and restoration DVDs for sale. The museum welcomes school and tour groups by appointment. The Model T Museum is nestled in the heart of the Historic Depot District of Richmond, IN. Once the area's transportation mecca of the 19th century, the Depot District is now a must-see destination filled with notable architecture, unique shops, stunning murals, fun and fabulous restaurants, a microbrewery and much more!

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Definitely a hidden gem!! Thought it would be a quick walk through but enjoyed ourselves so much we spent 4 hours learning so much. Justin and Tom kept all of us (ages 11, 17,and adult) so engaged we passed u going to the second museum on our itinerary. You are welcome to walk through without the guides, but don’t pass up their entertaining wealth of knowledge. Would definitely recommend even if you’re not a car buff.

Found the museum quite by chance - was driving through Richmond and stopped for the night and found it on the local list of ‘things to do’. Decided to swing by the next day and was there at opening time. Michayla was there and greeted us when we arrived. We paid the entrance fee and she asked if we wanted a tour which we declined - only because we weren’t sure how long we would stay. To our surprise, the Model T’s they had were in excellent condition and most of them had descriptions of the year, cost and a number of other details. We asked Michayla a couple of questions which she answered and then we more or less had a private tour. Across the street from the museum is an annex where they have more model T’s on different platforms - fire truck, ice cream truck, etc. All is all it is a terrific museum and the official museum in the US for Ford Model Ts. If you have an hour or two and you want to see some really beautiful cars, take the time and visit the site….well worth it!

We stopped here while traveling through with our grandsons. I only expected them to be entertained about 15 minutes, but we were there much longer. Noah gave us a great explanation of what was involved to drive a Model T (quite comicated). Noah made our tour very interesting. We were able to easily park our RV on the street, but their lot is also large.

If you like old cars, you'll enjoy this collection that spans two buildings. Many models of the Model T to enjoy. As a pilot, I especially liked Pietenpol airplane powered by a Model T engine. Whoever is on duty can answer any questions, but most informative was a retired docent on duty in building #2.

Any trip to the Richmond, Indiana area that does NOT include the Model T Museum is a waste of time and opportunity! Both buildings hold unbelievable restored beauties and oddities!
