About
Acton Scott Heritage Farm is in the process of coming back to life under the management of a registered charity of the same name. We are running a number of tours and events in Summer/Autumn 2024 as a precursor to full opening, planned for Easter 2025. The farm, which featured in the BBC series, 'Victorian Farm' provides an insight into historic farming methods, farm machinery, heritage and rare breeds and at times features demonstrations of historic farming methods (e.g. use of heavy horses in the fields, blacksmithing, the baliff's garden, etc.) More details of our tours and events are available on our website and social media pages.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went on a tour as part of the pre-opening. Wonderful location (although a sign at the entrance is needed - everyone we spoke to got lost and pastr the entrance!). Wonderful historic farm. The volunteers, especially the young curly headed guy and the woman playing the 'Squires wife' were both excellemt and very knowledgeable. Can't wait to return when the farm is back to full capacity!

A great day out at Acton Scott Farm. Despite the Covid restrictions there was still plenty to do and see. Our children managed to help Farrier Tom make a horse shoe at the forge and were given it as a keep sake. Great demonstration and Tom was a real character. There were baby chicks that were held and the opportunity to sit in a 6’ high shire horse! The grounds were stunning along with the beautiful views of Shropshire.
There was a willow maze which the kids loved as well. Loads to see and a great insight into the past.
Only draw backs were the lack of toilets and cafe due to the restrictions, some porta loos might help along with other drink outlets.

Whist visiting Shropshire we found this little gem. Nothing sophisticated but an eye opener into historical farming and rural history. The wheelwright was very interesting as was the horse and binder harvesting the wheat. A little gem of a place if you like history.

We all had the a fantastic time, the perfect place to take my young grandchildren. So much to see that met all their different likes: chicks, piglets, horses, tractors and wheels and the highlight for one the shepherds hut! Plenty for me and my big children, amazing veg patch, beautiful scenery, weaving and dairy and delight at watching the kids run excitedly around in a safe and well looked after venue. We all left feeling more than happy. I realised I’d lost my purse there, rang up and was told they’d found it and put it in the safe. I live around 20 miles away but a member of staff delivered it to my door. Wow that’s service! Thank you so much to all at the farm who helped to make our day special. We’ll definitely be back.

we spent a morning at the farm and very much enjoyed the whole experience. There is a lot to see and do for all ages and the staff are extremely knowledgable and approachable. It still has a proper farm feel about the place and not too theme parked. We spent a few hours remembering how we used to use some of the old farm equipment, a few years ago now! It is also a great place for families.

Lovely visit with my sisters. Reasonable entry, free parking and very friendly staff. Good gift shop, tasty sausage sandwich and other food available by picnic benches. Saw lots of animals: baby pygmy goats, geese, pigs, chickens, ducks, shire horses, lambs, donkeys. Even got to hold a duckling and stroke lambs and watch piglets suckle. Nice informative place about victorian farm and wood craft. Safe covid measures and eady social distancing. Would recommend for families.

visited today with my 4 year old granddaughter and it was shocking!! ive been here many times with my own 3 children and have always loved it but today was very different. No members of staff to be seen except for the gift shop. No talks, no demonstrations, nothing up and running like u think a 'working farm' would have. Managed to drag the visit out over an hour and a half including our picnic. For £22 for the 3 of us it was an absolute rip off, sadly we won't be returning!!

Very interesting and informative. Spent time talking to staff an 89 year old gentleman telling us of his 65 years of working on the farm could have spent longer!! watching the demonstrations and seeing the little piglets.
You get a return ticket. Thinking of a season ticket so much to do over the summer

We think the season ticket is great especially with events such as harvest festival and steam threshing still to come!

What a fantastic day spent at the farm! I brought my 5 and 2 year old sons to the farm and they had a brilliant time meeting all the people working there and seeing all the animals. There was so much to see and do and the staff were genuinely lovely and keen to help us learn more about the traditional ways of farming. There were lots of hand-on activities the boys could get involved with, which they loved. And all set in beautiful surroundings. Thank you to the Acton Scott Working Farm team for making this day a day for my boys and I to remember, and for all your work in enabling the farm and all its ways to continue to live...

We paid £18 entry and spent no more than an hour there. There wasnt much happening, we saw 2 members of staff doing stuff but otherwise the rest of the place had nobody telling you stuff. I went with my partner and was sort of seeing what it was like to return with somebody I care for in a wheelchair..which I will not be doing. His chair will not be able to go in the house/buildings and the yard is pebbles so wouldnt be a very comfortable ride for him. Plus its not worth the visit or the money. If you wish to see houses and buildings from different times in history I suggest you go to St Fagans near Cardiff which is free to go to you just pay to park the car which is about £5
