One of the most beautiful lakes in Idaho, if not the world. The scenic drive allows you to take in the wonderful sights and vistas from the comfort of your car.

The road skirts around the top north eastern side of the lake. There are a number of points where you can pull off and have time to enjoy the scenery. There is a marsh at the NE corner of the lake with lots of birds depending on season. Some nice views as you go towards Hope. There are places to eat but not too many on east side of Hope. Clark Fork is pretty small but there is a very nice bakery. We brought cinnamon buns and they were excellent.

Great little trip around the lake but it will take you some time. Lots of photo opportunities and if you are staying near then sunset photos over the lake could produce some great shots..

IF you are in the area this Byway should not be missed. There are a lot of pull offs for admiring the gorgeous scenery or to take pictures. Stop in Clarks Fork along the route at the Pantry and have a picnic lunch packed for you to enjoy at one of the picnic areas in route. Stop for a leisurely walk along the trails through Ross Creek Cedars Scenic area and see gigantic and towering old growth cedars, Some are 8 feet wide and 175 feet tall. Later venture to Kootenai Falls for another amazing few hours. Well worth the time spent.
