About
From the beautiful Waimea Plains come the inspired and innovative wines of the South Island's oldest family winery, Seifried Estate. Harvested from Estate grown, 'Sustainably Accredited' vineyards scattered throughout the Nelson region, this is a winery with a focus and passion for beautifully crafted wines. From humble beginnings in the Moutere Valley near Nelson in 1973, Seifried Estate has grown to become synonymous with sustainability, quality, innovation and family values. The family business has grown and now farms over 250 hectares of vines, with their wines being sold in 22 countries, including having established themselves as a familiar and favoured brand in New Zealand. A leading producer of Nelson Sauvignon Blanc, Seifried has also gained a reputation for interesting and unusual varieties, including Grüner Veltliner, Würzer and Zweigelt - paying homage to Hermann's Austrian heritage. In September 2014, Hermann and Agnes were acknowledged for their tremendous contribution to New Zealand wine and inducted as Fellows of New Zealand Winegrowers. They made history as the first husband and wife team to be recognised and it was also the first time a woman has been honoured. The passion has been passed on with all three of the Seifried "children" now home and working in the company. Each brings experience and knowledge gained in various roles around the world. The grandchildren have also become regulars at the winery, eager to help and get their hands (and feet!) dirty, and follow in "Opa and Nana's" footsteps. A family business, sharing their wines with the world. And home to the fabulous Sweet Agnes Riesling - New Zealand's most awarded dessert wine.

Very nice tasting room with a very informative staff member. A very premium winery with lots of history and of course lots of different wine varieties some very well known and others not so. Never tried Wurzer a German varietal. The highlight has to be a tasting of the sweet Agnes Riesling a late harvest production which was outstanding. Well done to all at the winery.

Had an amazing time at Seigfried Estate. A most lovely lady talked us through our free wine tasting and suggested we tried the last wine after lunch as it was a dessert wine. We then had a delicious leisurely lunch in the garden with views over the vines. We had bread and home made dips to start and then I had eggplant and my husband had mussels. Both beautifully presented and delicious. The service was good and the staff very friendly. We then went back for our final wine and purchased some of the amazing Aotea sav blanc plus T-shirts which the lovely lady insisted we try on to get the perfect size. Totally recommend a visit here for the food, wine, friendly staff and beautiful views.

Service was good. Food was also pretty good ( not great)
Ambience was terrible. The restaurant hasn’t had a lick of paint in what appears to be 30 years. Furniture was tired and dirty. Ceiling looks like it’s about to fall in. Way below the expected standard for a vineyard lunch in 2023.

Thank you for your very honest review. The good news is the dining room has now been spruced up with a lovely new paint - which was the week after your visit (the open fire had left some smoke stain on the ceiling after the cold winter) - and is looking lovely and fresh and again. We're into our summer menu, and have some brilliant new staff all ready to give you a lovely Harvest Kitchen experience. We look forward to welcoming you back anytime. Regards Anna Seifried

Really disappointing. We took overseas guests for a family farewell and its likely the elderly grandparent isnt going to see the family again. The service was shocking. One seafood chowder main meal was brought out and one seafood chowder main wasnt brought out with everyone elses - we had all finished our meals when the second seafood chowder main was brought out. I had the pork belly and my meal was lukewarm - which was disappointing as it should have been a delicious meal. The seafood chowder had good flavour but was missing seafood - partner advised he was lucky to find half a mussel.

We had to ask for more water, we stayed and chatted after our meals.
we were going to order coffees but noone came to serve us and when we left well over 20 minutes later our table still wasnt cleared.

When i paid there was no apology for the late meal, no one asked how our meal was and we didnt feel valued. General agreement is we wouldnt be going back here as it wasnt cheap and lots of other better eating options in the area,

The cafe is open and airy, very comfortable with amazing food. The gnocchi is the best!! Their pinot noir is good, as is the Sauvignon blanc, but the shiraz is a bit watery. Lovely drive and fun area to explore.

Went in for a wine and few nibbles. Food took over an hour for fries and garlic bread. Said they will give us a discount for the late food and made us pay full price. Average. Also $2 for the smallest sauce I’ve seen in my life

Five different wines in the tasting, and no charge. The pouring was generous compared to other vineyard tastings, so you had more time to decide if you liked the taste. The only negative would be that you don't get to choose which wines you'd like to try which is a shame, but as they're not charging you then fair enough! Fab local family owned vineyard with really lovely, friendly staff.

Excellent service, friendly bubbly staff, it was pretty booked the day we had booked our Christmas do, the food was fantastic, the staff knowledgeable and quick, all food was lovely everyone enjoyed their meals and had a good time! I’d definitely recommend Harvest Kitchen for lunch or a quick bite! Dogs welcome too and will be coming again.

I recommend the pork belly, Rosemary in the crème brûlée was a interesting touch but nice

Excellent lunch menu in a relatively quiet restaurant on a Thursday with excellent service. Perfect for a long catch-up lunch with friends, enjoyed the Pinot Rose. This was our second visit and Definitely will be returning for that great food - thanks chef and waiter.
