As Boise locals, our family thought it might be fun to drive up to Idaho City one night and enjoy the hot springs. The springs themselves are amazing. So luxuriously warm with a large pool that is easy to spread out in and then a smaller even warmer "hot tub" one. We enjoyed the steam room as well. There is complimentary water placed by both pools to prevent dehydration. We didn't have any food or alcohol, but did love that it was an option for those who wanted it. My one complaint was that the locker rooms were extremely crowded. They had the women doubling up on lockers, which thankfully was not an issue for our party. But we ended up having to wait to take a rinse off shower for quite a while as others were taking showers after leaving the pool and taking a while. At the end of our visit as the pools were closing the locker room became almost claustrophobic with how many people were in it. I'd just recommend making sure to get out before closing time to avoid the rush if you're like me and don't want naked people crammed around you.
Still, all in all a very relaxing and positive experience. I'm glad they at least do bookings to keep their numbers somewhat under control, but it is unfortunate they are having so much traffic making the locker rooms a bit crowded. Hopefully they'll continue to do well and maybe be able to expand at some point.

The Springs is a short 40 minute drive from Boise just outside of Idaho City. Reservations required unless you are also staying at their adjacent Inn at the Pines hotel. Entrance fee of $20 (discount price of $17 if you are staying at the hotel). The facilities have a relaxed spa feel while maintaining a rustic character. The large, clean, outdoor pool had plenty of deck chairs, a hot tub, sauna, warm yurt for eating, and private tubs. You can order poolside (appetizers, salads, drinks, beer, wine) just know that they only serve 1 alcoholic beverage per hour. We enjoyed sipping a glass of wine in the beautiful surroundings! The locker room, though beautiful, seemed pretty small with only 2 showers and 2 toilet stalls. It was crowded and several of us ladies had to wait in line to use the shower and toilet which was surprising since they seem to pride themselves on requiring pool reservations to avoid overcrowding. Cramped space at the changing area by the lockers as well. If we go again I would definitely go mid-week on the kid-free days.

Even on the last day of the water cycle, the pool was clean, the water clear and warm, and very pleasant. It’s a good thing that they book only a set number of people each hour. The dressing rooms can be a little crowded, if it’s busy. Nothing like that natural hot water!

Where to even begin…what was supposed to be a fun overnight retreat with our adult children turned into a very disappointing experience. We booked a cabin at the Inn at the Pines and a hot springs soak at The Springs. We had a nice dinner at a local restaurant and then spent an hour or so at our cabin before heading to The Springs. Shortly after checking in to the springs my daughter and her girlfriend went to get wrist bands to order adult beverages at the pool. They were denied wrists bands and were told they could not be served for at least an hour because someone informed the springs that “you all were partying at the cabin”. If playing family board games and laughing is considered “partying”, I guess we are guilty. My husband and I went to talk to management. In a very calm tone we asked them to explain this rational. They could not or would not tell us the reasons why. They did admit this was probably a misunderstanding and allowed us to get wrist bands for drinks. My husband ordered a drink but when my daughter and her girlfriend went to order, the server said no she is uncomfortable serving them. Is this because they are gay? After being treated rudely and telling us they would monitor our behavior for an hour would they even consider serving us. We obviously left at that point after being in the pool for less than 15 minutes. We asked for a refund and were denied. Very poor customer service, unbelievably bad experience.

The service was subpar with rude front desk staff. You’re only allowed to soak for 2 hours despite paying a premium to get in and there is an additional $10 fee to use a towel. I’ve been to a lot of nice hot springs across the country and this one is missing the mark.

We use to love this place before they implemented limited soaking and raised their prices. My grandparents remember soaking here when it was just a hole in the ground surrounded by rocks. I remember being a kid the 1st time I got to swim and it was a totally different experience. Good luck getting a reservation! The experience is gone and now it’s just a money making water hole. Have fun as you watch people’s dead skin cells float by the night lights while you listen to the Californians talk about how rich they are. Oh yeah..! They also don’t clean the pool, or spa I was told by a staff member. They said they drain it every night. FYI draining the pool does not remove all of the nasty dissolved solids you will encounter. I guess if you cater to the rich you can do whatever you want. I will not try to come here again and will discourage anyone I can. Go hit a natural hot spring where you won’t be bathing in the scum of others and save your money.

We absolutely clean our pool every night that we are open. We are not quite sure what has upset you. Things change and to expect a business to be the same throughout time is unrealistic. We cater to our guests, whoever they might be. If you don't enjoy the experience that we offer, completely understandable, but no need to be harsh about it. Like you said, there is a hot spring for everyone, sounds like this one is not for you.

LOVED The Springs!!! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a gal who gave us the details about our private pool and took our food/beverage order. We ordered a beer, Sprite and a cheese charcuterie plate, which were delivered and waiting for us in our "room", along with a big pitcher of ice water. The area was very private, open to nature with a garden complete with butterflies and natural. The pool was perfectly warm for us on a clear blue but a tad cool morning, about 3.5 feet deep at the deepest but we liked that there were different levels to sit in the pool. We used the hooks to hang our clothes (taking advantage of clothing optional), put on some Zen music (I'd brought a bluetooth speaker), thoroughly relaxed and grazing our cheese plate. It really couldn't have been more perfect. Before we knew it, we got our 10 minute reminder and our session was over. An hour was a good amount of time, anymore, we'd have melted into the place (we were that relaxed). Everyone was super nice and accommodating, I'd recommend The Springs to anyone going to the Boise area. One thing I'll advise to someone coming here is to be mindful of the sign from the road. We missed it and ended up driving on someone's private drive, they didn't look any too happy that we were there.

Front desk workers and private tub staff were good. However, the locker room girls were ridiculous. As I used the restroom and hear them talking, casually dropping F bombs and talking smack about a mutual friend. Refused to let me take a water bottle with me, but I saw several others on their way to private tubs with their hyrdo flask or yeti full of who knows what. I just wanted my water. I get it was the 2nd day open and obviously new staff, but geez. Ill be back cuz the place is great other than that. Those girls clearly need some training.

We are so sorry to hear of your experience with our locker room staff. As things have changed over the last year, empty hydroflasks are allowed. During your visit, we do provide water in them for you as needed. Our apologies that this information was not provided to you. Regardless of this being only our second day re-opened to the public, we have very high expectations of our staff and it definitely sounds as though those were not met during your experience. We will absolutely provide more training as that is unacceptable. We greatly appreciate your feedback as this is how we, as a business, know where we can improve moving forward. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.
Thank you

Just visited the Spring on 3/5/2020. Apparently it is a good idea to have a reservation, but I lucked out because it was not too busy as I was there mid-week and was able to get in. The price was a reasonable $20 for an all day pass. The staff were very friendly and helpful and just wonderful to interact with, The locker room (they provide keys to a locker) was clean and had a spa feel.
The spring "pool" has easy access steps in the shallow end and also several ladders. Shallow end is about 4 feet and the deep end is 8 feet deep. The hot water enters in the deep end so that end was a bit warmer, maybe 101 degrees. This tapered down to probably 99 degrees in the shallow end so its easy to find your perfect temperature by simply moving about. The water feels fantastic and has that awesome slightly sulfurous smell one associates with water heated by a volcano. The separate "hot tub" is slightly hotter (104?), but I spent 99% of my time in the main spring pool.
The whole place has a super chill vibe. Nice music playing and icy fruity water self serve stations pool-side. They even have servers on patrol who are happy to bring drinks off the menu and serve you as you float in the spring. It really doesn't get any better than sipping an icy IPA while floating in 100 spring water. This place is an absolute must do. If I lived there, I'd be at the Spring at least 3 times a week.

Awesome place to relax and visit. The staff was super friendly and quick to take your orders. The food was delicious. You cannot take water but you can bring a water bottle to fill from the free water available on-site. Note that bags must be kept in the locker room. No charge for the lockers.

It looks like there are 4 private tubs. Any recommendations of which ones are in a prettier setting or more private than others?

Only been in number 4. But it looks like they all would have about the same view up the mountain. They are very pretty and private.
