Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want to get out of town for a day of fishing and not have to drive too far, this is a good place to go. Whether trolling from a boat or fishing from shore, the fishing is usually pretty decent. It's open year round, but make sure you have a fishing license if you're 14 or older.

The ramp is paved, but the docks are not always in the water. So not a great place on a windy day with a larger boat. The fishing can be excellent. Check out the Kokanee Forum for up to date tips. Locations, color, depth, etc..

The dam is a short drive past Spring Shores Marina...when u turn past the last bend in the road, the dam opens up to your view...roll down the car windows and feel the temperature drop as you get closer to the dam; if you have time, take the road to the top of the dam (turn left when you get to the dam)...10 -15 mph road that has many sections of 1-way only traffic...washboard road; 30-minutes further up the road, you will feel like you stepped back in time to when the native americans lived on the land; if you brought your fly fishing gear, about 10-minutes past the 'end of the reservoir' you will find the river packed with decent sized and often hungry trout. The trip back to the paved highway is 45-minutes.

Most people go to Lucky Peak reservoir for their summer relaxation. But, go 20 miles toward Atlanta and the area is desolate, quiet, peaceful and best of all - free from people. Be careful on the road, one wrong move and you could go off a cliff or into the water.

This is a good place to go for the day if you're looking to just get outside. The reservoir offers fishing and boating but don't expect much in the way of beautiful scenery. There are little to no trees and the beach is pretty steep in places. But, it's close to town and good for getting away for a little bit.

This place is amazing. The dam has a long and winding road to get to the actual dam itself, but worth the drive. Its about 30 miles from downtown Boise....but its a must see attraction. The photo opportunities are amazing and the winding river in the gorges with the mountain scenery make this an awesome place to stop and see.

It's tricky to get here. A steep incline in to the reservoir on a one lane dirt road is a little nerve racking. Picnic areas are rocky and limited. It's supposedly good for Kokanee trolling from a boat and under the dam is one of the best fly fishing areas in the state.

Great camping and fishing. Take your drift boat (strone motor) and catch your limit with a variety of fish. Hot in the summer. Fall and spring months are great.

On busier weekends I prefer this reservoir for enjoying my PWC's. Lucky Peak draws a lot of wake board boats who throw up a lot of swells. As LP is a narrow lake the swells bounce back and forth.
BUT- with the growth of Boise it isn't like 10 years ago when you could be the only watercraft of Arrowrock. Come early or launching can be a drag.

Bumpy, narrow dirt road but worth the travel if you are patient. Fishing is great and the scenery around the reservoir is relaxing. Be careful of rattle snakes if you walk around though. I'm not a snake fan but rattle snake tasest just like chicken.

How many Kokanee can you catch in a day? What's the bait to use for them? Do you troll for them? When does the season open for them? How many days can you camp at Lucky Peak camp ground and does it have any hook ups? How would I get there from Nampa, ID?
