Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Thomas County Courthouse was built in 1858. It was designed by architect John Wind. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1970.

Anyone who love historic courthouses will love this beautiful building.

The dome is very beautiful.

Plenty of free parking. This is a quick stop but worth it for the coolness of the building.

We had parked in town and it was a very short walk (5 minutes) to the courthouse. It’s on its own square plot and the architecture is great. Very nice to see.

Thomasville has done an excellent preserving their past. We had a great time there. A good long weekend trip. The courthouse is exception. Grand old architecture.

The country courthouse is worth the short walk from the commercial district just to see and take a few pictures. Classic Southern Architecture on display.

Mom and I were in town for a family wedding, and took a walk around town. Stumbled upon the courthouse. What an incredible architectural building. Just beautiful!

Very beautiful courthouse, with great green space and perfect for wondering around and see downtown Thomasville. Several eating spots right nearby that are open during the week would make this a great stop while traveling through. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and didn't get to try some of the eatery's that are normally open during the week. First Baptist also takes up an entire block on one side and has some places that make great spots for photos and selfies.

I love to visit county seats just to see how the courthouse and other "common" buildings look. Sometimes one gets a "Wow!" moment, and sometimes it's pretty disappointing. Here, it tended toward the "Wow!" side, consistent with the entire town.
On that note, Thomasville is like a step back 50+ years to a time when Southern towns were vibrant, well-kept, and attractive, with plenty of friendly folks. This City if a RARE exception in today's world of downtown blight and abandonment (which is what we are used to finding, and did on most of the rest of our trip). This is one of the few places we would consider as a new home, based on the great personal pride shown by everyone we met in their community.

This was a very easy courthouse visit. Convenient parking, everyone was nice and my reason for visiting was taken care of efficiently.
