Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Holly, our contact person, was very nice and accommodating. I'm only giving it 2 stars because the experience wasn't as advertised. In researching our adventure online, I found that the state park was sold out, The Kayak Shack was $15.00. (they were located at the bottom end of the river, albeit on the river, so the journey began with an upriver paddle and a float return, of which we weren't interested), and CHS, which advertised beginning just south of the state park was $30. The following day I asked my son to book with CHS. He informed me that we would have to begin our trip at the bottom so I figured the price would be competitive with The Kayak Shack. After a 2 hour drive, we arrived to find out it would be $32. each. It was fun and beautiful but we didn't make it anywhere near the head waters because the current became quite strong. Thank you Holly for advocating on our behalf for recompense even though your efforts were fruitless. I will ask the correct questions prior to my trip.

Hardly any parking at this establishment, and the staff were rude and unprofessional. I was hoping for a fun outing with my friends and this place ruined the entire experience.

We had a great time kayaking. They took us to the dropoff, got us in the water, and pulled us out and drove us back at the end. Nice guys that helped us; twins and Dave were great.

We have been to CHS Watersports twice in the past month and will likely go several more times this year!! WE LOVE them!! Their prices are reasonable and they take care of their clients. Holly is an amazing driver and has great tips for the river! We take a small cooler with water and snacks. While you can make the river in a couple of hours paddling vigorously. We prefer to spend 4+ hours playing at all the stops and jumps!
CHS is our favorite Kayak place!!

A group of thirteen, several single and double kayaks. They load the kayaks on a trailer and loaded us in a huge van then went bouncing along a primitive road to the launch about 5 minutes away. They unload the kayaks, then help each person into their boat which isn't easy as it's a steep incline and the river is swift. But the guys were great. I don't recall getting a map, just an explanation to head west till you get to Rogers Park.

From there the current takes you, your effort, the majority of the time is just navigating as there are lots of eddy like pools that will suck you in and push you around. It's not difficult, but fun and there are lots of sandy areas along the river where people pull over to rest or eat or swim. The river has hundreds of twists and turns, the water is about 72 degrees and on a hot day very refreshing. Lots of flora, fish and we even saw manatee.

Took about 3 hours to go 4-5 miles. Pay attention to the signs!!! Look for the Rogers Park signs, which are at times hidden behind overgrown flora. That's the direction you need to go. Half our party went the wrong way. If you make it to the parks kayak unloading area, don't stop, it's not the CHS take-out. Keep going down the river, around the bend and another 2 blocks! You'll see a sign for Weeki Wachie kayak. There's a bobbing dock there and hard to dismount, esp for older people.

It's about a 5 minute ride back after the trailer is loaded. Overall, a wonderful, beautiful, fun experience.

This was the second time we used CHS to kayak down the river. Thanks Chris for another great trip. I recommend CHS because of the location and ease of getting to the best part of the river, the headspring. Chris drops you at a private launch site where if you chose to, you can paddle upstream all the way to the headspring, the best part of river you're basically the only people on the river for the first 3 miles. Go on the first launch at 8 am to see the most wildlife. Don't be scared by the looks of the place, these guys are very good and even very entertaining and funny.

We had a wonderful rental experience with Holly and CHS Rental for the kayaking. We were able to kayak almost 4.5 miles of the river and the day was perfect for it.
Be sure to bring water to drink and a snack. It takes a few hours to paddle and it is nice to have a snack.
Be sure to look at the map before you go so you know where to get picked up when you finish. That can be confusing because there are so many different companies.

Got a quick reservation late at this location for some weekend fun. First impression is this place is bare a bones rental and transportation only. One tiny bathroom with no paper towels. The owner was walking around cursing under his breath..not sure why but it went something like "I run the mother#%^*+=! Show around here not you people." An old beat up van takes you about 100 yards to the drop off point. The young guys are nice but there was no organization. They dropped off all the kayaks and helped you in the water (off a very steep ramp). We pulled the kayaks to the water and everyone ended up picking a kayak to use. The kayaks were old and needing repair as well. The seats are worn and didn't hold their shape, the storage bungies didn't work. I wasn't given a life jacket, which I noticed half way down the river. I was too busy trying to organize the kayaks for everyone. At the end the guys waited to pick you up at a floating dock. When back at the shop I asked to use the bathroom but was told there was no toilet paper and they didn't have anymore. Hmmm seriously? These people get customer's money and run. Bare bones and they don't seem to care one bit about comfort or customer service. Will never ever return.
