- shawnie541Cave City, Kentucky12 contributionsTrick or treating event was so nice for Halloween! It was first time the kids missed Halloween at home. We were worried they wouldn’t have anything to do and miss out on trick or treating. The fact that pier park had ALL the stores give out candy and dress up was so nice!! They got just as much candy if not more than they would have gotten at home!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 November 2023
- Hooked_on_travel77Franklin, North Carolina3,307 contributionsMany food choices plus mini golf and the Sky WheelLots of free parking. Many choices for lunch and dinner plus two outstanding ice cream shops. Cinnabon too! We went on the Sky Wheel (senior discount came to $38 for two) which gives you 4 revolutions. The photo package was $24 but makes for a cool souvenir. The only negative was hitting your head when entering the cars. We were not the only ones. We also wanted to try the fun looking mini golf course but we ran out of time. This is a really good stop along your travels. We hope to come back one day.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 February 2024
- Heidi gTraverse City, Michigan373 contributionsSafe, clean, pleasant area to shop, eat, and walk around.Hubby, teen son, and I spent a few days in Panama City Beach for spring break this month. Pier Park is easy to find right off the busy Front Beach Street. Safe, clean, pleasant area to shop, eat, and walk around. There are many touristy shops and other specialty stores. We got our t-shirts and magnets here as well as ate ice cream at Kilwin’s. We also ate dinner two different evenings at one of the many restaurants, Margaritaville. Our first evening in PCB, we drove there and checked out the big pier as hubby wanted to see how fishermen did their thing. He caught 3 22” Bluefish from the pier the next AM! We ate dinner outside at Hook’d Pier Bar & Grill right there at the pier entrance. It was great! Pier Park is right across the street. The large and lit up at night Skywheel is in the back section of Pier Park. You can look for a parallel parking space along Front Beach there, or definitely find a spot across the street behind the west side of Pier Park shops. Free and easy parking here! Or you can get some exercise and from your lodging! We did, on the beach.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 April 2024
- John Scott18 contributions$20 to park, even if you're only there for an hour.Interesting place. Get there before noon to see the fishing boats come in. Lots of different fish. Plenty of restaurants, with lots of different cuisine. Lots of shops. Only complaint is $20 to park, even if for a short time. They do warn you, but only with a small sign as you drive in.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 June 2024
- Jennifer GDallas, Texas2 contributionsLearn the smarter, not harder way to plan!My son and I went to Lake Placid in FL last year to see family and then drove to spend 3 days in Panama City Beach. It was AWESOME! It felt like a 4 out of 5 star to me because of poor planning on my part. I had not been to PBC since spring break in 1999! So 25 years later, I brought my 19-year-old. We loved it and wish we would have planned better. We wanted to make it a road trip theme, but where I messed up, was that I did not get one hotel for the entire stay. So most of our time was spent packing and unpacking for a different hotel every night...just trying to look for the best rate through Priceline, booking, and hotels.com. I wanted my son to see it how I saw it when I was his age. We didn't even get to do much at the beach, which was all we wanted to do! This year, I booked a hotel reservation 4 months ago and added 3 extra days to the road trip. I spent a lot of time looking for the best hotel rates that I could find within my budget and also considered an Airbnb. I took advantage of a lot of different 3rd party rates and I picked 5 different hotels and made reservations at all of them. After we all agreed on one hotel, I canceled the other 4 reservations and then paid for the one we plan to stay at in advance. We are less than a month away from our second annual road trip to see family and vacation on the beach and my son has a friend this time, (I guess your mom isn't who your adult son looks at as the first option to take to the beach with you (Sigh))! But I understand! And going solo is just fine with me! This is more for my son that it is for me. Long review short, just plan well in advance, and there is plenty to do without having to make an actual itenerary. Pier Park was fun just to walk around in. I'd love to go swimming with the dolphins though...I think this time I will!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 July 2024

I sure wish that I could give a -5 circle review because this place is TERRIBLE. They absolutely scammed my daughter into getting a braid in her hair by telling her that it would cost around $30, but when it came time to check out it was over $60 because they had put in fake extensions and didn't mention anything about it before or while it was happening. This place makes money by blatantly scamming and lying to children and it is completely uneithical and should be looked into. I would also like to add that the product they use is easily purchased at any Dollar General store in the country. We went to purchase the exact same products and spent $7.87. How is it possible that they can legally quote one price (that is already extremely inflated) but then actually charge double once the work is done? This place is not worth spending a penny at, definitely be forewarned that they WILL DEFINITELY scam you in the end.

Most of the places we wanted to visit were indefinitely or permanently closed, such as The Yard Milkshake restaurant or the I Love Sugar Candy store. There were others, but it was super frustrating that the website it not updated. If stores are permanently closed or indefinitely closed, there should be a notice on the Pier Park website. Super frustrating to get there and walk all the way down for nothing.

We came here after doing an airboat ride. We had a large group so it was nice to split up and check out the shops. All typical Florida Souvenir stores with over priced crap. My daughter got a basic tshirt from one of the stores and after wearing it the next day the heat transfer image was peeling off. The shirt was $24 so over priced. They charge you $3pp to walk out to the pier so we opted out of doing that. The Ron Jon surf shop is a must to shop at. They have super cute logo tops and seem better quality then the ones you buy at the typical Souvenir shop. Lots of dining and treat choices but be prepared to spend lots of money.

Average shopping is what you can do. Books, clothing, funny hats, food and gimmicks are what you can buy. As for eating, there is no truffle oil, cans of marzipan, or beluga caviar here, only maybe smoked tuna dip and those claws torn off crabs. Forget about fresh corn on the cob: by the time the corn gets up here from Mexico it has been stale for days. Is there cotton candy? Yes, over by the ferris wheel where you can stir up your lunch a bit. Remember this: if you live in Georgia or Alabama you are welcome here. If you live in PCB itself or Panama City, you are probably tired of this place and wary of its promise. Your dollars can go farther down the road in Mexico Beach or Port St. Joe.

The shopping and restaurants are great. Should be s walking only mall. Parking lot has lots of parking.
Matter of time before someone ran over. Endless vehicles cruising; music full volume, revving engines to draw attention. 50/50 if they stop for you in cross walk

This is exactly what you would expect. It had the all the same chain stores you normally see in tourist towns, especially those in tropical areas, along with a few smaller stores. There really wasn't a place to get cheap PCB shirts like we had hoped. No need buying $20 shirts to take back to all the nieces and nephews when they just outgrow them by the next year. There were some reasonably priced ones, but I'm used to finding bargains in a few shops.
The only thing I really wanted to do was go to Del Sol to get a new pair of glasses and at that I succeeded.

So many shops but the highlight was Dog Beach at Pier Park. It was a beautiful strip of beach where families could take their canine companions. Our little 4 lb Maltese loved it so much!! Dogs aren’t allowed in Destin so we were so grateful to Panama City Beach for creating this space to play.

Shops, restaurants, game-type rooms and activities, and other touristy offerings. It didn’t help that our timing coincided with Spring Break. I understand the need to blow off steam from stressful college life, but the immaturity of some of today’s youth frankly staggers me. One such Einstein sat in his muscle car at an intersection loudly revving the engine and spinning the wheels causing quite a noise, burning rubber on the road, and causing smoke to completely cover the automobile. If his intention was to draw a crowd - mission accomplished. I am sure his parents are proud.

The hair wrap kiosks at pier park in front of movie theater are a rip off. Stay away. Very rude employees. 3.99 for an inch of hair wrap. Also come out the day after. No refunds. English terrible. Others warned me I was dumb to ignore. They are ripping people off terrible business ethics.

Dropped in for quick trim for me and hubby. Sheila gave me a great wash with a little neck and temple massage, great cut, Used my name several times while we talked, never had that before. Good cuts, good price, and recommendations for best oysters around!

Where is the nearest place- in or close to - Pier Park that I can rent a wheelchair for a day or a few hours?
Written 20 October 2019
I’m sorry. I am not sure. Maybe try googling it. :) Goodluck.
Written 30 October 2019
I believe so but I would call to check. (850) 236-9974 is the office number.

Is there a drop off point for bus groups? Separate bus/RV parking?
Written 24 March 2019
Plenty of parking at Pier Park around the perimeter, the main drag has parking and some cut-outs where a bus might drop folks off but the road is narrow and they have round-abouts, best to park in marked parking area.
Written 25 March 2019
we paid $15 a person for 3 times around, that was a week after it had opened

How much does it cost to enter the park? And is there handicap parking?
Written 16 September 2018
Parking is free, and they have many handicap parking areas at various locations and store parking lots.

Is this within walking distance of the Splash resort?
If not, what is a nice hotel that is close?
Written 25 July 2018
Indeed Splash resort is almost 3 miles. So figure almost an hour to walk there plus a lot of walking on site. There are many places to rent bikes or mopeds along the way worst case.
We've stayed at Aqua which is a 10 min walk to Pier Park.
I would recommend you start by a google search around Pier Park...there is no shortage of hotels and motels in PCB.

What are some really good places to eat while in this area?

If you want Oysters and country music, Tootsie's does a very good job.
