We signed up for the “Back to the Future” themed escape room. It was a later evening slot, completed waivers online in advance and they still had us wait almost a half hour before we started. It had to be some of the most well themed rooms I’ve ever attended(I’ve done over 100+ rooms all over the world). My only negative was the simplicity of rooms and only having one puzzle in each. Definitely great for a family inexperienced in escape rooms but not for escape room veterans unless you are looking for nostalgia.

We apologize you had a less than memorable experience. I do believe you are referring to the escape room located inside of city walk. We have no association with them. We do however encourage you to give us a try! We are located in Downtown Orlando.

We did the president's bunker. We were happy to be able to book last minute and they only charged us for the two slots for my wife and I to have the room to ourselves. Dev was our host and he was the perfect escape room host: funny, encouraging, and helpful. The room was the best I have done in a while: clever puzzles that were tough but doable and minimal "guess what I'm thinking" places to get stuck at. We did have to pay for parking. Based of this room this is one of my new favorite escape room companies!

Rather interesting escape room! We made the President's bunker. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They truly seem to enjoy their job. The story of the room was both great for adults and teens. The room was very detailed, well thought out, logical and challenging for us. We will come back!

We went there to celebrate my 30th birthday. We did the Dr. Watson surgical room and had a great time. The puzzles were varied and sylvan difficulty. Monica was fantastic to work with so much so that we came back the next day to do the President's Bunker room. If you are in Orlando and want something a bit different go check out this place. They will go above and beyond to make your day memorable. Say hi to Monica and Kiki!!

We really love those escape room concept. We first tried the Hint Hunt in Paris which was fabulous. Then we went to Hong Kong where we were very disappointed. And now we tried this one in Orlando. Is it a bad joke ? You enter a old building in the middle of Downtown Orlando. You are welcome by "cool teenagers" who open the door to the "great" escape room. It looks like you enter in an old disaster room full of very old and destroyed props. No theme (except that recording of sherlock (poor) Holmes on this very old CD player), the riddles are way too complicated and not clever and not funny ! Enough guys ! You want people to have fun with your escape room so read this : make it funny, clever, simple and decorate your room properlry ! Don't forget how much we pay to simply having fun ...

Our party choose the infirmary experience. It was terrible! This was not our first time playing an escape game, so we had a benchmark of what we expected. The Great Escape room didn't even come close. The game had no order, the clues were very random and forced, the hints non existent. Very poorly conceived and executed experience.
There are other choices in Orlando for a truly amazing game-- this is NOT one of them.

We traveled to Orlando last minute and wanted something other than the same park experience. Using Trip Advisor, we found this and was very happy we did! We were a family of four and no one else had booked our time slot, so it was just us trying to solve five puzzles to get out of the room. It's in a location with lots of bars & restaurants nearby (Church St. Station), but not for young kids. It's not very fancy or high tech, but very worth the price and quality time.

we did this after reading about it on TA...while it was fun, it would have been more so if your group was all couples or all individuals. The experience is limited if you are a minority in part of a group or god forbid a solo guest. Highly suggest to find out the dynamic of your pending group before going.

I just finished experiencing The Great Escape Room. It was incredible fun!! I went with a group of four and they teamed us with six other people. The ten of us were next locked in a room with two "monitors" to assist us if we needed hints. This is like the on line "escape the room" games but in real life! Although we had just met, the ten players were soon operating like a fine tuned team, finding clues and solving puzzles. I really enjoyed the way we had to put the clues we found together to try to escape the room. After an hour of searching, figuring, brain twisting, and laughing, we solved the final puzzle and escaped the room with five seconds to spare! I was exhilarated and emotionally drained at the same time. The game itself is cleverly devised to bring enjoyment and the satisfaction of some success to all levels of puzzle solvers. At the same time, to successfully solve all the puzzles and escape the room is very challenging and we were told only about 15% of teams can expect to escape. So I am proud of my team and I am really glad this game has come to Orlando.

The concept of the Escape Room is really good and the staff were friendly.
The puzzle itself, though, was beyond the problem solving skills of most people. I had assumed that my wife, who successfully plays Escape Rooms online regularly, and I were just not up to the task until I learned that the success rate of the room is only 16%.
An 84% failure rate made me feel better about myself but the statistics, along with the experience that was more frustrating than fun, convinced me to not return to attempt escape from the remaining two rooms.

Hello! I thank you for your feedback. Although I'm happy to hear that our staff was friendly, I am sorry to hear that you found your experience frustrating. Our escape rooms are definitely more challenging than others and require a lot of communication and team work in order to escape within the hour. I will be happy to pass your feedback along. Thank you again for your review. - Kendra

Is there anything nearby for younger kids to do during the wait? I have 10 year olds traveling, so something like an arcade or a waiting area where they can sit and play their tablets would work.
Written 12 June 2016
Absolutely! They can join in the fun or relax on their tablets in the lobby!
Written 12 June 2016
No - they will add them to another smaller group. They will need the experience of other and older participants. However, having said that, they will be perfectly fine integrated into another group and they will love it.

Are the rooms identical between different locations? That is, if I were to play The Library in Orlando, is it the same experience as The Library in Tampa? Or are the two locations' rooms different enough that it would make sense to play both?
Written 8 January 2016
All "Library" escapes at The Great Escape Room are the same at each location.

They can be. Elementary age. They can look for clues in the room. It would be hard for them to solve the riddles but they would enjoy the experience. As long as uou have more adults than children.

My son is on crutches and his foot is in a boot due to high ankle, sprain. How many steps are there and once in can he sit down and elevate is foot on a chair?
Written 13 June 2015
Hi, there is one flight of stairs and he will be able to sit down if needed
Written 15 June 2015
Unfortunately, since it is an old building, there is no elevator available. However, if you are able to get up one flight of stairs you could participate.
