- Kurt K4 contributionsNew Smyrna Beach is the best beach in Central FloridaWe did a fishing charter with Captain Drew Cavanaugh a week ago and had a wonderful day with him. When we originally booked with him I was going to stay in Daytona this time, glad we did not. NSB is so nice. You must see it!Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 13 October 2023
- Jake L6 contributionsOne of the cleanest beach towns I have ever been too in my lifeWe spent Thanksgiving 2023 here in New Smyrna Beach for the first time ever. What a great town it is. Everything was great. We did a fishing charter with a local captain by the name of Drew Cavanaugh and he had so many places for us to go here. We ate at the Garlic twice! Phenomenal place. The River Deck for our lunches. We did a manatee dolphin tour as well and just fantastic! The national seashore was so beautiful. We are back in July! We will be coming here from now on for our family holidays!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 December 2023

- Safari3965478 contributionsLove it!Had such a great time in New Smyrna! It was my first time visiting and I am planning another trip next month! Beautiful vibrant beach town with lots of restaurants , bars, and shopping, as well as a beautiful beach that you can drive on. We rented chairs and umbrellas from private vendors at the beach for the day. Very walkable town, but easy to get an Uber too if needed. Definitely check out The Garlic for dinner!Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 January 2024
- Gail B1 contributionNSB is a great place to visit or stay.Enjoyed my first time at NSB. Loved staying on the ocean! Loved the small resort town feel. So many great individually owned restaurants and very few chains. Lots to do and see for a newbie. Needs more restaurants on the ocean to dine and enjoy the roaring waves. Chase"s restaurant on the ocean is a must do. It was remodeled after the last hurricane and is gorgeous inside (outside is still being worked on). A great place to unwind and take in the ocean breeze and a cocktail. Look forward to coming back to NSB next year.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 April 2024

Even though the last few years it’s gotten more crowded particularly on the weekends. There are so many amazing places to eat and little shops to explore. The wildlife is cool to see. There are parts of the beach you can drive on and a part you can’t which is nice when you have little kids with you. Lots of condos to rent to stay longer than the day which we like to do when we aren’t boating at Disappearing Island.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 June 2024

Just thought I'd post this so people know it's $20 per day to park here. There is no option for less than a day. Unfortunately for us, just after we paid our parking, a cold front moved through bringing rain and a 10-15 degree drop in temperatures. $20 is a lot to pay for 30 minutes at the beach. But such is life, and it's not their fault. On a nice day it looks like a good place to enjoy the beach and $20 would be a fair price for a full day at the beach.

$20 to park in the lot whether you stay 1 hour or 10 hours. No beach access by stairs so need to walk down the ramp along with the cars. Very few lifeguards on duty so beach space & swimming near them gets crowded. Fun play area for the kids with nearby bathrooms- also accessible only by walking where cars are driving. Cars are allowed on one side of the beach so you need to be mindful of your children if you go on that side. Clean beach, relaxing day for the family. Bring tools to build a sand castle and best to go during low tide for maximum beach space.

It is a nice beach, it used to be way nicer but that was when half of the world didn't know about it, now it's so crowded all the time. It's so uncorftable because you can't even get there peacefully. I am a local and I'm witness of how clean it was this beach and now with all these people coming down to it, it seems many of them don't care about to keep it clean, they throw trash all over the place even though there are reashbins. The restaurants around this area are fine, I recommend though either go to Norwoods, the garlic or Boston fish house, these last three are the best in the whole area. Never ever go to limoncello, this one is the worst restaurant in the whole area, and I've tried almost all of the restaurants, to not say all of them around these towns.

Beautiful beach but why would you allow everyone’s stupid trucks to block the view? We paid $2 to park in the lot and now we have to see everyone else’s vehicles up and down the beach. Stupid, unsafe and unacceptable. Love the soft sand and waves. We will not be back.

I love this beach. First off, it’s big and wide, with the sand compressed making it easy to walk. And can you walk - from Flagler Avenue, left to the jetty is maybe 2 miles, while to the right goes for more than five miles - that’s where I turned around and walked back. Cars can drive and park on the beach for $20. Here you can people watch, see surfers, talk to fishermen, ride bikes, or walk until you’re bone tired. Like I said, just the perfect beach.

Enjoyed another great day in New Smyrna Beach, what I call a hidden gem. I first heard about it when visiting Central Florida. So I, put it on my bucket list of places to go. I love the beach! These days, I live by the idea in mind to create new memories and enjoy life, and go on
stay-cations as much as possible. A wonderful place to visit with your family.

The area where we went on the beach was a drive-on area. It was convenient for ANY car to be able to drive to a spot to set up, BUT this also means cars are driving back and forth, people in golf cart/buggies, bikes, scooters, all going up and down a beach that isn’t very wide. Sitting closer, on the opposite side of the “road” put you closer to the water, and the tide comes up too high. There were also Portuguese Man of War ALL OVER as well as in the water, so swimming isn’t ideal.

New Smyrna Town Beach is a typical Florida beach. Clean sand, beautiful water and incredible views. Lifeguards on the beach, restrooms nearby and a couple places to purchase food. Jolly Chriss

We love to swim and had planned on a day on New Smyrna beach..however the mention of sharks close to shore has put me right off.Is this usual in all the NE Florida beaches?

what activity is there to do within walking distance to the Salty Mermaid for ages 4-13?
Written 15 October 2017
If it's where I think, it's clues to adult activities and live music. For the kids you are walking distance to the beach but it's a driving beach. Another reviewer mentioned Go Kart City but it's pretty run down and has been for years. New Smyrna Beach is shark bite capital of East Fla due to sharks feeding at mouth of inlet interacting with surfers but we still enjoy the water just not out with surfers at dusk.

I am new to the surf scene. I'm wondering if a beginner would be able to handle the conditions this time of year? I only ride a longboard, would this cause problems?
Written 17 April 2017
You will have no problem at all

Is there any public restrooms or changing areas on the beach?
Written 26 February 2017
Yes there are nice public restrooms right by the beach.

How far do you have to walk to swim? Do people swim there? None of the photos show swimmers.
Written 31 December 2016
You can walk up to your waist in the water before you can start swimming. There's no photos of swimmers because the swimmers didn't want to get their cameras wet.
