Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place was absolutely awesome! We can't even express how great of a time we had over the weekend. It's neatly tucked away on the boarder of Eatonville and Maitland. There's free parking across the street and the place looks more like an old pre-k school or small library, than a bird rehab, sanctuary, educational and exhibit center.
There were so many beautiful raptors and other birds at this wonderful place. Two of the young ladies who work there were gracious enough to put together an impromptu private meet and greet with one of their resident Great Horned Owls, named Henry! It was literally on my lady's bucket list so she was truly swept with emotions! What a truly life changing experience. Although small in size, this place is truly wonderful. Please go support!

Bald eagles, screech owls, barred owls, Hawks, ospreys, horned owls, all up close and personal.
Definitely worth the money, and you'll probably want to make a donation due to the knowledgeability and care shown by the staff.
This is an excellent hour to hour and a half stop off, with your children especially.

A visit to this sanctuary for injured birds was recommended to us by someone with a deep interest in birds of prey. We were amazed at the variety of birds being treated here including bald eagles, ospreys, kestrels, owls, and hawks for injuries caused by other animals, by vehicles, or other unfortunate events. Some may be released after treatment, but many will not. Talk to the knowledgeable staff members that are available around the Center and do not miss the short video in the house which will definitely give you an appreciation for the amount of effort it takes to care for these beautiful species.

I have been following Audubon Center for Birds of Prey for a few years and finally got to visit on Earth Day. Went with my husband and son and we all loved it. The birds and the entire place looked well taken care of. The staff was friendly and were very knowable.

We are so fortunate to have the Birds of Prey center right in Maitland, FL. Tours are available & wonderful sitting areas overlooking beautiful Lake Syvelia. Many of the resident birds are able to be rehabilitated & returned to the wild ie eagles, hawks, kytes, owls & other birds of prey but some are never able to be returned so they become permanent residents. You'll want to visit or ask for a special "Behind the Scenes" tour.

We have passed this sign so many times and wondered what kind of place it was. We finally purchased a Groupon & stopped in today. It was really neat to see all the different birds they had on display and to read the information they provided. They are doing such a great job with their rescue and rehabilitation program!

LOVE this place! Get to see beautiful birds of prey up close. Staff are very knowledgable and friendly. Easily walkable, beautiful lake overlook. They rescue, treat and rehab these amazing creatures. How cool that they share these birds with us?

What an amazing place this is, and what amazing work they do. Raptors are brought here to be rehabilitated after injuries and hopefully released. Many of them are released and fly away to be on their own. Sadly, some cannot overcome what has happened to them but are lucky that they can stay here and be cared for in a loving environment.
Little Bailey was injured many times while growing up in her Maine nest. She ended up here to hopefully regain her ability to fly. Just recently she was deemed non-releasable and now has an enclosure with her new companion, Smedley. She will receive everything she needs in her forever home.
When you walk around here, you get to see the raptors up close and talk to the volunteers. There is also a short movie to see before you start your self guided tour. Many of the birds are quite vocal, so hearing them up close is special. A great place to come if you love birds of prey.
There is plenty of parking, plus restrooms and places to sit. A dock goes out over the water with a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Admission is not expensive.

My husband and I visited the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Orlando (Maitland), Florida last March. We were visiting Disney for a week and felt we needed a break from the theme parks, so we consulted our guidebook for other things to see and do around Orlando. Since we are both bird lovers, this place caught our eye.
We had a bit of trouble finding our way to the center. From Disney it is a half hour drive or so on the highway, past downtown Orlando, in the middle of a residential area. We had to ask for directions a few times to find it, but once we did we were glad.
The center's mission is to heal and rehabilitate birds of prey. About 40% of the birds they help are released into the wild. The ones that cannot be released are kept there or placed with other similar institutions. They have several such birds on display, including owls, falcons, ospreys and other raptors. It is also possible to see some of the birds they are rehabilitating; on the day of our visit there was a magnificent bald eagle on site.
There is also a very peaceful and beautiful small lake on the property, over which there is a wooden gazebo where one can sit and watch the numerous birds that call this sanctuary home. There are ospreys, herons, cranes: a multitude of birds live by this lake. After the craziness of the theme parks, the moments spent here were a very welcome break.
I would recommend a visit here to any bird lover visiting the Orlando area. The admission fee is a $10 US donation, and there is free parking across the street.

We spent about two hours at this location. First, we walked outside and viewed all the birds which cannot be released due to their injuries. If possible, I recommend going in the AM because the afternoon sun was in our eyes for part of it. There is also a pretty wetlands pavilion built over the lake. Then we went up onto the porch and were greeted by Tony and his friends. These birds are tethered and out for a closer look. The staff member brought some over so we could look at them up close and hear their stories. We then went inside to the AC to look at their educational displays before heading home. The outside path and inside building are wheelchair accessible. They have a big parking lot across the street from their facility. It was easy to find with our GPS.
They are definitely doing good work here and it was a pleasure to support their endeavor.

Someone knows how long is the visit to the sanctuary? It’s enough one hour?

My Wife and I are coming to Orlando for a wedding on 3/23/19. We are staying overnight and would like to see the sanctuary on 3/24/19. What is the entrance fee and hours on that date? Also is it wheelchair accessible?
Written 15 March 2019
Check the website for hours and cost. My guess is 10 to 6 and less than $10 each. It's all outdoor and flat except for the office/house.

Yes they are allowed. The cages are in the shade and the birds like to hide in the corners, but I got some good shots.
